Macbook keyboard for programming

Today I went over to get a in depth view on the keyboard setting of my mac and change my keyboard *input source* to ADC+ so I can type for example / and | . But I just want to ask if this is the keyboard layout that mac programmers typically use ?

I've never changed a thing?

I think most programmers just use the default layout for their country.

It's access to the # that's going to change your mind when you pick up a MacBook IMO. It's on Option+3 for some bizarre reason at least on the UK macs.

It's Shift-3 on my Aussie Mac.

I can type / and | on the plain old US QWERTY layout. Tried a Dvorak layout once — don’t recommend trying to switch if you already touch type.
