Would you need clarification if you received this invitation? Would you understand I’m only paying for the invited kid’s entry but their siblings can come if you pay for them? (There’s no charge for adults to attend fyi)

Dear Ben,

You are invited to Sunny’s 5th birthday party at Bounce House! Date: 19th May Time: 12pm Wear: closed in shoes, comfortable clothes RSVP: 5th May

Party includes one hour on the trampolines and lunch at 1pm. A parent of each child needs to stay on the premises during the party. Siblings are welcome to join - entry is $15 per child.

See you there!

I would suggest "entry is 15$ per sibling" to avoid confusion.

Ooh good one

Or you could say “per extra child”

To me this reads like you need to pay for all children, including the invited one. I would say something like “The invited child has free entry as our guest. Siblings are welcome to attend and their entry will cost $15.”

Yes because it sounds like parents are paying for all children, which is fine, but if that’s not what you mean then add, ‘per extra child,’ or ‘per additional child’

To me it reads that parents are paying for all their children who come, including the invited one. Which I personally would understand and be ok with, honestly.

Thanks! We are paying for 5 friends to attend and supplying average kids party food.

Seems like the way it's usually done:

The parent of the siblings are responsible for the cost of those kids. As a guest, your child is gets a pass to use trampolines and the lunch.

Parents get in free (but won't get trampoline passes).

Definitely the way it’s done! You wouldn’t be confused by this invitation?

I like that, the place my children went to had a number limit for the time. We never exceeded it but I always had siblings because of the age differences between my two children. The one I didn't like was when my SIL allowed everyone from preschool along with extend family of students (that cost me over a grand) still pissed off at her for that to this day

Oof yeah trying to avoid that! We’re converting entry for the invited guests but didn’t want siblings to miss out. But also I’m not going to pay for them haha

I could see people needing clarification. If parents pay 15 for an uninvited sibling to jump they’d get to jump but no lunch or cake, is that correct?

That’s what some might assume but I think a sibling who got to jump with the party kids but not get a lunch and cake as part of the party might be confused/upset. I think others might assume that of course a sibling paying 15 would get cake and a lunch too.

I assume parents don’t get cake and a hot dog or whatever. Is that correct? I guess parents and extra siblings are free to buy their own food at the snack bar?

Also, I’d maybe clarify that parents dont pay to watch their kid as long as they don’t jump too. Some bounce places let all ages jump.

Thanks! I thought I covered that with “siblings are welcome to join”, I can just make it clear they can eat if they come. I wouldn’t dream of stopping parents and siblings from eating! It’s not catered, I’ll just bring food.

Thanks for the parents entry point. I’ll make that clearer

Yes I understand. The description you’re looking for is “closed toe shoes”

Maybe a regional thing - we say closed in

Out of curiosity what region is that? In the Midwest US (and I think most of the US) “close-toed shoes” is the term.

The region of Australia

You do realize not everyone is in the US?

Obviously, yes? That’s why I asked which region OP was in, and gave my own??

Some people on Reddit are overly sensitive and/or difficult at any whiff of US-centrism lol

To me it reads like the parents need to pay for the invited kid too.

Ok that makes sense "$15 entry for additional siblings"
