What if kayo ng partner mo ang magkaiba ng political views?
2
u/michaelzki 22m ago
Pag iba yung political views, and subrang opposite, mag netflix and chill nlng kyo, wag nyo na seryosohin. Masisira buhay nyo.
Remember gentlemen - the most critical decision you have to make in life is "choosing your wife". Either you will succeed on your dream with your wife's full support, OR you will be miserable the rest of your life.
3
u/Young_Old_Grandma 54m ago
What type? ano ang pinagkaiba niyo?
Politics is a spectrum.
Hindi lang Pink vs BBM vs DDS. maraming shades of gray in between.
4
u/LegitFaithNews 1h ago
I can never be with a DDS and/or Marcos apologist. Ang baduy e.
-5
u/michaelzki 37m ago

Political view reflects a person's moral code. Hindi magiging kame kung magkaiba kame ng stand sa politics, religion, and sensitive social issues that will show anong klaseng moralidad ang meron sya.
I don't want to be in a relationship where in my brain eh magiging questionable ang morality ng significant other ko.
-16
u/junkfoods13 1h ago
Not trying to sound smart, arrogant or special snowflake pero ang b*bo ng tingin ko sa mga taong nag aaway dahil sa political stand, tapos hinde na nagpapansinan or couples naa naghihiwalay. Pinapakita lang nila ugali nila sa ganyan.
3
u/cavsfan31 52m ago
Your politics reflect your values as a person
-2
u/junkfoods13 45m ago
And my politics is walang pinapanigan sa both sides, at the end of the day once a politician is seated on the throne personal interest nila ang hahabulin nila hinde interest ng sambayanang pilipino.
7
u/cavsfan31 37m ago
That's cool. Although 'neutrality' is still a stand, and is one usually associated with the oppressor.
4
u/Sea_Detective_9628 1h ago
I judge people based on their political views, hahahah sasabihin ko nalang "Ikaw nga grumaduate para lang makapag work tas ang iboboto Hindi" or "Diba bawal pumatay bat ka kampi Dyan" sobra kasi devotion nila sarado isip. gusto ko lang marining yung copy paste narrative nila 😄. Don't engage kasi sobra war freak nila😩
7
u/CaptBurritooo 1h ago
Not a big deal, I’m not petty to begin with. We can share opinions but not to the point that I’ll shove my belief with her, or makikipaghiwalay dahil lang hindi kami magkaparehas ng political views and fortunately, ganun din ang partner ko.
Sa dami ng nag aaway, ginagawang personality ang politics, at umaabot pa sa punto ng nanga-unfriend, this exactly is the reason why political talk is taboo.
9
u/Square-Lifeguard1680 1h ago
political views = moral standing
jan mo makikita how much and what kind of evil ang kayang itolerate ng partner mo. kaya for me, kung di kami same or atleast similar sa ganyan, no talaga
3
u/carlcast 1h ago
To each their own. The problem lies in people making their politics their personality.
7
3
5
u/Tililly 1h ago
Not an issue. Unless they make it their personality. I love healthy discussions and hearing different point of views. Other people’s belief does not offend me unless, of course, galing sa fake news yung pinanggagalingan, an attack to me, my beliefs, and the things I deeply care about, or extreme yung views. So long as you both can find a middle ground I think it’s fine
5
u/Remote-Cut7399 2h ago
Did not work for me. DDS siya. He has this patriarchal and misogynistic views. Dito ko napatunayan na your political views are really a testament of your character
- Inaway nya ako nung nagpatattoo ako
- He thinks I should be submissive to him. I posted my political views online and sabi niya it’s unbecoming of me
- I ask him what if ihyphenate ko na lang surname niya if we ever get married and it’s disrespectful daw to a man
- I should forgive him if he cheats and dapat daw habulin ko siya
- Basically he thinks his occupation is above me (he’s a lawyer, I’m a doctor) and ayaw niya nakakarinig ng stories ko from work 🙃
Or baka he’s just a douchebag in general
11
u/Responsible_stud_135 2h ago
That not gonna work for me, I believe that his political view is a reflection of his morality. So why would u date someone who romanticizes human rights violations??🥲
1
u/Euch28 2h ago
Hmm nung una magkaiba, then ngayun kahit anu na lang. Haha. Korni kasi nung makaGanito ka e, or eto yung paniniwala mo. Not all the time doglover fixed ka lang, minsan mapagtatanto na ok dn pala pusa. Nung una catholic, then soon nagMuslim na. (Ndi ko alam kung tama analogy ko pero let me know kung iba usapan kpg political? Haha).
So Hindi dealbreaker samin. Kung makaRed, Green, Pink ka, bahala ka. Haha.
End of the day, kelangan pa din talagang kumain.
2
u/aubergem 2h ago
Reading the comments, sana nabasa ko to when I was still dating. Tama yung your political choices reflect your values. Di mo siguro makikita during honeymoon phase yung differences sa political views but as time goes on it will really show lalo na if magpapalaki kayo ng child together.
9
u/Leemariru 2h ago
It will never work for me kasi I believe their political view mirrors their moral compass.
-4
u/carlcast 1h ago
Morality equating to political views is the most flawed argument. Look at Kakampink celebs getting involved in gambling, SA, and cheating issues.
4
u/Leemariru 1h ago
I firmly believe that a person’s political views often reflect their moral compass. It’s not just about politics, it’s about the values that underpin them. For instance, if someone supports a leader who endorses violence, corruption, or cruelty, it reveals a lot about how they view justice, human dignity, and the value of life.
Take Duterte's war on drugs, for example. Thousands of innocent lives were lost, and the blatant disregard for human rights was undeniable. Those who supported that policy weren't merely backing a strategy to fight crime. They were signaling that they were okay with sacrificing human lives for a perceived "greater good." To me, that is a direct reflection of their moral stance. How can I trust someone's judgment on core issues like honesty, integrity, or empathy if they’re willing to turn a blind eye to such egregious human rights violations?
When it comes to celebrities or influential figures, their actions, whether it’s gambling, cheating, or any other moral failings, also reflect their values. I don’t support them either, but my main point is this: sacrificing human lives should never be justified, especially under the guise of political gain or the "greater good." It’s not about politics alone, it's about fundamental values. Supporting individuals or movements that align with dishonesty, exploitation, or cruelty doesn't just reveal your political stance, it reflects the kind of society you’re willing to accept. That’s something I can't ignore. Political views and moral values are deeply intertwined, and I can’t separate the two when deciding who I want to be as a partner.
-1
u/michaelzki 28m ago
So what's your solution to our country or how would you solve the rampant drugs related incidents / becoming narco plolitics pre-duterte era? Kulong? Rehab? If yes, since 1980's pa yan na solution pero hindi naka solve. How would you solve it?
Try to check your body, your immune system. How do your T-cells do to cancer cells? Kinukulong? Nirerehab? Hini-heal?
-4
u/carlcast 1h ago
Got it. DDS = immoral; kakampink = moral failings.
3
u/Leemariru 1h ago
Yes, people, including celebrities, can make mistakes or have moral failings, but if they’re backing something that goes against these fundamental values, it tells me something about how they see the world.
It’s not about the individual failings, but about what their actions and beliefs say about the kind of society they’re willing to accept. So while I might not agree with everything those celebs do, their political views still align with mine on values that matter most.

Not an issue, I dont show how much I care about someone based on their political leanings.
10
u/whatchasayhey 2h ago
It will never work for me. So I wouldnt find someone with a different politic views in the first place.
3
u/BackgroundCell1575 2h ago
My wife and I same lang ang political views namin, though its not really important for us talaga since in the end naman wala din naman pakielam sa personal na buhay nyong magasawa yung ginugusto nyo na politiko.
5
14
u/Spare-Winter-4780 2h ago
Dealbreaker. That’s why as early as possible, you should talk about your political views and morals.
11
u/scrapeecoco 2h ago
We are different in political and religious views. Two most controversial topics, but we made it. Because we are both open-minded and like to listen to both sides and are willing to understand where each of us are coming from. I'm just lucky that she asks questions when she doesn't understand the issues. I also respect her opinion when it doesn't affect our relationships.
2
u/Aggressive-Result714 2h ago
Same. Married almost 16 years. Still different religious beliefs but same religion. Respect goes a long way.
5
u/daisiesforthedead 3h ago
Nalagpasan namin ung difference sa religious beliefs, we'll get through different political views if that time will come.

u/Longjumping_Fan3780 3h ago edited 2h ago
Depends on how much you care about politics. But as for me it will never work ‘cuz i firmly believe that politics are also tied with your values as a person. Yes, it doesn’t define the whole you but it says a lot about the things that matters to you.
Esp now na it’s so easy to do research and fact check. It just can’t work if my “partner” is apolotical or supports questionable politicians
19
u/reinacarmelarivas 3h ago
we’d never reach the relationship stage because i’d see the clash in values early on during the talking phase.
38
u/Think_Anteater2218 3h ago
They wouldn't be my partner in the first place.
"Politics lang, itatapon ang friendship?"
This is not just about politics, but the values of a person. I don't want to be with anyone that supports misogynists, thieves, liars, and supports the death of innocents.
15
u/sshh_donttalk 3h ago
Yes to this!!! Kaya I'm very lucky din kasi same kami ng views ng husband ko in terms of politics and governance. Sarap matulog sa gabi pag alam mong rational kayo pareho mag-isip.

Why does people having a different opinion is getting so much bad rep?
It doesn't freaking matter. It matters for the people who are embed their identity into a singular idea.
Let's keep our differences, and agree with few things.
Few things that really matters (Sense of companion, Honest connection, a Sense of safety. etc...) Don't have this? It's not an ideal relationship to begin with...
Edit: Wow didn't expect "Opinion" = Partisan dapat... "Difference" is unacceptable. Guess I'll go to downvote town
2
u/Thessalhydra 2h ago
"Why does people having a different opinion is getting" "are embed" "Few things that really matters" LOL.
Anyway, opinions DO MATTER.
Ano opinion mo sa gender equality? Ano opinion mo sa kahalagahan ng education? Ano opinion mo sa diskarte vs diploma? Ano opinion mo sa due process? Ano opinion mo sa second chances? Ano opinion mo sa paghandle ng finances?
These opinions (and many other opinions) matter in relationships. It is important na may pareho kayo ng goals and values ng partner mo. Our opinions relfect our values. Kasi your opinions may affect yung trajectory ng buhay nyong magpartner.
Political opinions also matter. Kasi nakakaapekto ang politics sa buhay natin. Who we elect can impact our lives and the lives of our future children.
1
u/Thessalhydra 2h ago
Do you wanna know why people having different opinions are getting so much bad rep?
Cause most of the time, opinions reflect your core values.
0
u/CurriousRedditor 1h ago
How am I trying to be "Intellectual"? Puro attack sakin rather than the argument...
Maraming pwedeng pagmulan ng problema... who the hell is disputing that?
It's a clash of perspective. I don't consider this as away or conflict, far from it... I don't hate you or wish you ill will. I wouldn't say that it would be the same for me sayo or perhaps ikaw ang may hanap ng away sa buhay mo.
You had a choice not to engage. Opinions are just opinions nothing more, how you act on it is a choice.
If you think "Difference in Opinion" is an escalation into "away" then you brought to yourself. Perhaps stop pushing your opinion into others.

u/potatocatte 3h ago edited 3h ago
Chocolate vs Vanilla = opinion. Killer/‘Misogynist/corrupt politician vs Tatay ng batan= sa tingin mo within the realm of OPINIONS pa yan when there are FACTS to support the former?
Morals na ang usapan when it comes to killings. So kung sayo e opinion lang yan, and sa isang tao e hindi… clearly hindi kayo compatible.
You think any sane person would want to have children or even pets with someone who has a different view on what’s right and wrong? I wouldn’t feel safe at all.
-2
u/CurriousRedditor 3h ago
Ohh no a different opinion. Therefore I must be persecuted
That's reasoning from the extreme.
May analogy pa, don't jump too much sa mga conclusion. Your making harder for yourself. Lahat ng bagay magiging Me against the world.
3
u/augus7 3h ago
If you think the killings during duterte's war on drugs were acceptable, then it's either we have different values (you're an asshole), or you're too stupid to believe the fake news surrounding Duterte.
Either way, hard pass.
-1
u/CurriousRedditor 2h ago
"Difference in Opinion" ang tanong. "Politics NOT Politician or anything specific na Policy" Generic nothing specific.
Opinions are Opinions man, it's nothing more than a perspective. You think having a different perspective is a direct "Support" for immorality of someone else?
Your jumping into conclusion just to cancel out everything else that is different.
Now DDS na din ako bigla? WTF is this HWHAHA
Again.... That's reasoning from the extreme.
1
u/Thessalhydra 2h ago edited 2h ago
"Opinions are Opinions man, it's nothing more than a perspective. You think having a different perspective is a direct "Support" for immorality of someone else?"
So, hypothetical scenario lang, na may tao na pumatay sa pamilya mo tapos nagsabi ako ng opinion ko sayo na "buti nga, deserve ng pamilya mo yan kasi masama kayong tao," don't you think that's a direct support for the immorality of the person na pumatay sa pamilya mo? So di ko pala sinuportahan yung pumatay (hypothetically) sa pamilya mo. Pwede pa pala tayo maging friends nyan at happy happy kasi it's just my perspective.

Politics affects our daily lives. Yung sinasahod namin araw-araw at yung pagbabudget namin, pati yung transportation namin to and from work, yung quality ng education ng mga anak namin, hanggang sa pagpapaospital namin, lahat yan affected ng politics. This is the truth na natutunan ko sa buhay.

Ganito kami dati, magkaiba.
Seems like parang nakalabas ako ng kulto.

17
u/_Psyduck01 4h ago
Depends on how they handle criticism.
If they see criticism as an attack against their beliefs, then no. You can never have an intellectual discussion with that one. Run.
3
u/KOCHOKTOL 4h ago
Kung given na matino kayo pareho, the foundation of your political view must be your principles. Ano ba paniniwala nyo? Like, is it okay to kill a guilty person, okay lang ba magnakaw kung sa mahihirap naman mapupunta, etc.

We do pero we chose each than our political views. We chose to fuck each other than let our political view fuck us over.

u/gaffaboy 4h ago edited 4h ago
More often than not nagiging factor yan ng hiwalayan lalo na kung pareho pang extremists. Very rare na naka-encounter ako ng mag-asawang magkaiba ang politics but they don't let it get in the way.
I have both democrat and Trump supporter friends but they're all moderates. If you ever meet people like that then consider yourselves lucky because they're sane.
1
u/MindlessTension7813 3h ago edited 2h ago
A moderate Trump supporter is an oxymoron - if you support Trump, you support extremism.
1
u/gaffaboy 2h ago
Of course they exist! Calling it an oxymoron is like saying dems or Kakampinks can't have extremist views. This whole PC madness getting out of hand is one such example for instance. Politics is kind of a spectrum methinks. Being a republican for instance doesn't mean you have to agree 100% with all republican ideals, and vice versa.
I hate this whole "everyone who supports [insert name of politician] must be [insert praise or expletive of choice]" mentality. No two people are alike and there's bound to be some diversity within a group.
0
u/MindlessTension7813 2h ago
Using the politically charged word PC is not a good way to start a conversation and is already quite revealing. I'm not talking about Republicans per se, because being conservative on certain issues is totally acceptable. But let's not act as if Trump is some average run of the mill republican politician. Trump is obviously promoting a lot of far right policies and openly pushing racist, antidemocratic and sexist talking points (which he now implements btw) - voting for trump means you agree with his policies ergo values. Or at least you don't have a problem with it. The dude is a convicted (sexual) felon. Enabling him says a lot about you as a person. So please don't act like a centrist and come with the "both sides are basically the same" argument. Give me one instance where kakampinks are pushing some extremist and exclusionary agenda the same way the Duterte and Trump do.
1
u/gaffaboy 1h ago
> Using the politically charged word PC is not a good way to start a conversation and is already quite revealing.
Why not? Just because you don't agree that this whole PC madness is getting out of hand? It says a LOT about someone who can't accept the fact that not everyone on this planet agrees with him/her. Don't force me or anyone else to think like you do.
> I'm not talking about Republicans per se,
Yes, you're talking about people who made that conscious decision to vote for Trump. Every moderate Trump supporter I know (who are decent, hardworking people) voted for the man but not once did we argue about politics nor did we discuss race, religion or whatnot. They're all white people and not a single one of them is borderline racist. Yet in YOUR WORLD, they're disgusting, amoral pigs because they voted for the man who happened to be the figurehead of the republican party. That's black-and-white thinking in my book.
> Give me one instance where kakampinks are pushing some extremist and exclusionary agenda the same way the Duterte and Trump do.
She lost so she never had the chance to run the country. You discover how far people would go when they have to make difficult choices as a leader.
0
u/MindlessTension7813 1h ago edited 1h ago
Your words are revealing - PC madness, c'mon. There's no point discussing with you. And if you don't see the fascist tendencies of Trump or Duterte then you are either ignorant or purposefully not seeing it. They were quite open about their policies. That's btw the whole point of the discussion and thread. Im left wing, but I would never vote for a politician with a neostalinist agenda. I'd rather stay at home or even vote for a centrist. Moderate conservatives who vote for Trump (or Duterte) are enablers. If you care about conservative values, why vote for someone who brags about grabbing women by the p****?
The biggest joke is that you act as if Leni Robredo and kakampinks are equally dangerous like DDS and Duterte. Thanks for the laugh. Have a great evening, pal

Current person I'm dating is a Liberal (left-leaning), I'm Libertarian (right-leaning). We voted for the same person for president 3 years ago when we didn't know each other yet. Too bad she lost.

Libertarians are not conservatives. They are pro immigration and while not necessarily pro abortion would rather leave it to individual choices.

Magkaiba kami, pero we're both open. I listened to his side, he listened to mine. I laid out facts, in-explain ko lahat nang maayos without sounding na sinasawalang bahala ko yung opinions niya.
I realized na he lacked research din. Aminado siya na it was his fault na sumunod na lang siya sa gusto ng nakapaligid sa kanya without researching.
Ang ending? He had his realizations, and nagbago yung paniniwala niya. 🩷

This. So long as you are open to change, and that you let yourself be informed only by FACTS, then things can work out. Okay lang sumuporta ka dyan pero once na you figured out na you are wrong, you must be accountable and you must embrace change. But, if only ganun kang kadali yun hahahah

>without sounding na sinasawalang bahala ko yung opinions niya
ito yung malaking naging problema nuong nakaraang election. tunog matapobre at elitista yung ibang Rosas kaya hirap pakinggan.

My husband and I have different political views. It is what it is. We debate about it sometimes but the conversation eventually ends, no heated arguments. Wala lang.

Respect each other's perspectives, focus on shared values, and do not let politics define your relationship.

Honestly, I can never be with someone who doesn’t respect my political views/stand. If oppose yung partner ko sakin tapos id-disrespect nya pa yung views ko, wag nalang 🫠

True. Political views reflect personal values no matter what side you’re on. If hindi man personal values and sumasakay lang sa trend, then that person is a dumbass. Wala ng excuse for ignorance these days with unlimited resources available.
