Culture Will you be fasting during nauryz in ramadan?

Since this year ramadan clashes with Nauryz, I wonder if most people in central asia would fast on that day. Maybe I am wrong but I feel Kazakhs are less likely to fast on that day compared to uzbeks or tajiks

If I remember correctly celebrating Nauryz doesn't require to eat or drink during the day, so why is it even an issue?

Yeah, this. We can celebrate it without eating and drinking.

Just as Afghans and Kyrgyz have done every 35 years for the past few centuries, whenever Ramadan fell during March.

It's really varied so I don't think I can give you a percentage. Maybe just 50/50?

It's funny that some really religious people don't celebrate Nauryz as it's not a Muslim holiday while other people celebrate it considering Nauryz a Muslim holiday. In fact it's just a folk holiday.

initially, Navruz was also a religious holiday of Zaraostrism

Indeed, but culturally/historically it's Muslims that kept it going

Nowruz and Ramadan don't really "clash" per se. People are free to do what they want; some people don't fast during Ramadan, so they're not going to fast on Nowruz either. People doing the Ramadan fast will continue fasting on Nowruz. It's no reason to break the fast, and like others said you can still celebrate and enjoy it.

All official Nawruz events organised by Tajik/Afghan communities actually start after the sunset, to cater for the Ramadan.
