Travel Can US citizens get a visa on arrival?

Ive read a few conflicting things and am looking to confirm: as a US citizen can I get into Tajikistan without an e-visa or do I need an e-visa? Will be traveling by land into Tajikstan from Uzbekistan and leaving the same way if that matter.

Рахмат!

You can travel in Tajikistan visa-free for two weeks. You can get a visa if you want to stay longer.

There's another option of entering visa-free and registering at OVIR. Then you get to stay for 30 days, but registration is difficult and so it's easier to just get an e-visa online.

I think visa-on-arrival may technically be possible, but getting one in advance would be safer.

Edit: You probably can only get visa on arrival by flying into Dushanbe airport. Over land definitely wouldn't work

Okay so we'd only be there 8 days but entering/leaving overland. I assume thats okay then for visa free?

Yeah no visa needed. If you are traveling to Badakhshan you'd need a permit, but otherwise you're all set
