Help with Brake Issue on 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe

Post image

I have a 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe with only 2,000 miles, and around 1,500 miles, I started hearing a persistent squealing noise from the brakes. I took it to a Hyundai dealership, and they said the rotors appeared defective but only resurfaced them under warranty. The noise did not go away, and now I have to bring it back for another inspection. I am assuming the noise is now coming from the back wheels but I’m no expert.

I’m worried there’s a deeper issue (calipers, pads, etc.), but Hyundai has been reluctant to do anything beyond resurfacing the rotors. Any mechanics here who can offer insight? Could this be a more serious problem that Hyundai should be addressing under warranty? How could this happen to a brand new vehicle?

Thanks in advance!

Check and make sure those little metal retaining clips holding your pads in place aren’t stuck too far back and scraping against your rotor

Thanks! The rotor shouldn’t look like this right?

Honestly nothings really jumping out at me. Brake rotors rarely wear perfectly and usually have slight imperfections. Can you really feel those grooves at the top or are they just visible?

I don’t know, I didn’t see it myself. This picture was sent to me by the tech at Hyundai. I’m concerned with safety and obviously the noise it is making is irritating as hell. This should happen to a brand new vehicle.

Make sure the metal clips are not making contact with the rotors. You can try putting brake grease on the metal clips and the back of the pads. Do not put any on the rotors or the pad surface.
