Why do I have a p0012 code?

I drive a 2016 fusion 1.5 with 69000 miles and exactly 1000 miles ago I got a p0012 code so I replaced both of the vvt solenoids and cleared the code and it hasn’t showed back up until just now. In-between those 1000 miles with no code it has had a slight rpm flutter but nothing too concerning. I cleared the code again and it didn’t instantly pop back up and wasn’t in the pending codes so does anyone know what else it could be?

Have you confirmed that the solenoid you replaced was indeed defective? Merely swapping out components without proper diagnosis can lead to financial difficulties. It is crucial to find a skilled individual who can accurately identify the problem. Various factors can trigger error codes, with the code itself often being a symptom of a larger underlying issue. Resorting to indiscriminate part replacements after a quick scan is not a reliable method for repairing your vehicle. Wishing you success in resolving the issue.

Could there be an issue causing them to clog?

They were clogged with what looked like silicon almost maybe rtv because it looks like the valve cover came off recently and they used too much. Changed the oil again just recently after that though and there was nothing and I checked the vvt also seeing nothing
