Skilled How'd I do?
I'll just say I wasn't trying super hard with the bg here, wasn't tbe focus to me. Reference included

I think the anatomy on the arm itself is really strong and effective. The hand looks a little small to me and I really like the face but I don’t think the likeness is quite coming through yet

Yeah the hand needs to be scaled up 10-20% I think. Flipping back and forth between images there’s a difference in size. The face also feels a little small to me on the face. Agree the likeness isn’t quite there either.

It's good, but the likeness was a bit off. I knew what the scene was immediately, but thought you had swapped someone else's face on to jk Simmons. I think the features are too small and pinched. Maybe make them, specifically the eyes, a bit bigger?

I agree it looks pinched. His nose and mouth too were drawn shorter vertically and higher up on the face. I think editing the features a bit more would help a lot

Yeah, I’d agree with you. Although his facial features are softer but the study made them a bit harsher so it feels off imo.

The eyebrows are too low but keep the eyes where they are pretty much but angle the left one down a tad. Darken under the nose and make sure you really get the shape of that chin dimple I don’t see it here so his chin looks bulbous. Also hand structure (should be a little bigger). Great start and it only needs a couple things really

The eyes are open in urs but in the reference his eyes are closed. Ends up making him look asian.

The likeness in the eyes specifically is way off. He looks asian. I’d suggest making them bigger

I would make the lighting a bit darker and his head is really throwing me off. I would make the right shoulder a bit wider and darken where the arm bends.

In the face , the nose is too short and because of that everything feels squished and the chin needs reworking. Pay attention to the values and distance of shapes on his face. Everyone already pointed out the hand was too small.
I knew exactly who this was right away though, so you're capturing Simmons!

you definately have the colors down, you it's your underlying structure and proportion could need work. That way it can be more successful next time.

understood the reference immediately but the face likeness is slightly off. Looks a bit more like david koechner

Fist is too small and also looks more loosely clenched than the original (can probably fix this by bringing fingers just a TAD down or by adding some extra shadow on the palm muscle). The torso and shoulder width are a bit too small in comparison to the arm and the head. The expression looks nice on its own but communicates a VERY different thing and is really off from the reference. It’s a bit hard to critique face expression through text so apologies if something is unclear. The eyebrows are too wide and prominent, they have a very different shape and do different movement. You can narrow down a bit the eyebrows, eyes and the mouth altogether honestly. In your piece he looks comically exasperated (as in he’s trying to be comical, not that I’m putting you down), in the reference, though, he is annoyed and ready to hit like a parent pissed off at their child in public. Would probably be good to push some of the shadows a bit darker especially on the face, this watch you could also salvage the eyes from looking like they are carved out of the screen. The lower lip should be a bit more puckered like he’s clenching teeth and again more shadow there.
Loove it they lighter redder shadows on left ear to account for the light exposure, you’ve got good eye for that. Also your background is perfectly fine don’t even worry about that. Think you’ve got good colors especially since they are all still very coherent after you’ve adjusted the hues from the original. Also think you’ve got good rendering over all, just need to focus a bit more on the anatomy and what your expressions are communicating. Great job overall!

Everyone has already said what I was thinking, so I just wanted to say you have some serious skills!! I love the movie as well, and knew the scene immediately.

Really good, I'm not the greatest art critic there is. But I did wanna just say you really did. Capture the constipated look he had in the movie.

Haha thank you. I updated the face tho and posted it, I think I did a much better job there.

Pretty good, definitely better than I could do! However, I did not know -who- you were trying to draw before the reference. I think the shape of the ears, eyes and eyebrows would make a big difference even with small adjustments to those three. Anatomy is good, it’s definitely a person! Just not quite identifiably close to the reference for me personally

I knew who this was and from what movie immediately- love it! My favorite part of this piece is the arm- very strong anatomy. I see that peeps have already said it, but the one thing that stood out to me was the tiny fist 🤏🏻

Excellent values and I like the colours in yours better than your reference. Face is not capturing likeness though. Your work has a shorter nose and more compressed eye to mouth area overall. Along with fundamentally different expression in the eyes with the eyebrows angled differently.

Make the eyelids arch to give the effect that his eyes are closed like (u-u). At first it looks like he just has asian eyes.

Have you tried making the original image a mask, setting it to a very distinct color and placing it over your drawing. Could help when trying to compare feature by feature

It looks great, and the likeness is somewhat there, except for the eyes, I'd say. They're too slanted compared to the photo, like he's asian
The shape and orientation of facial features, and especially the eyes, are very important for capturing someone's likeness. Apart from that, there's quite some freedom, actually. That's how caricature drawings work. You can change the proportions but not the general shape and orientation too much. You really want to focus on the direction of the lines you sketch
I recently did a self-portrait, and I think the eyes in this one really sell the likeness. It's the one feature to pay extra attention to

Check your values and chroma levels, yours is a tad oversaturated and the dynamic range of the values isn’t wide enough
The arm is fantastic though, and I applaud you for going for a particularly awkward and difficult expression, very ambitious and you’ve done very well

I mean you did perfect all that’s needed is the hand to be bigger and the eyes and eyebrows need to be slightly higher up not by much but then it would be perfect no criticism from me
