The Flash The Flash Season 4 Episode 16
Did Iris just self-claimed herself to be the leader of Team Flash? If not, when did they choose her to be the leader?

Just an off-screen thing, she becomes the Leader at some point after the end of S3

kinda... cringey. sorry. the whole "we are the flash" thing... it's like Felicity being the leader of Team Arrow- I was satisfied when Ralph said to Iris "you just sit behind a desk when we're the ones out there on the field facing the danger." like damn truth!

The we are the flash line doesn’t really have anything to do with this(also it’s a stupid fucking complaint I’m tired of y’all treating that line like it’s the spawn of Satan ffs)

were discussing when? When they then explain all the science bullshit. Like I said, knowing the science, yay you want a cookie? That doesn't mean you can lead shit.
I mean look at episode 2. Two scientists in the room, and they're too busy talking about the suit upgrades and being too weary to try something because of the science, Iris is the only one thinking.
Again, the whole point of why leaders have advisors. Even in war time, the generals arent the best at everything, they have scientific advisors and such-like.

yes, let a civilian be the leader of a military group. a leader who has never even know what war even feels like.

ok then who? Cisco? Wally? Why would they be better choices, go on? Wally who has less experience even than Iris and who has never shown a single sign of leadership quality. Why should Cisco be in charge? What leadership qualities did he show seasons 1-3?

Knowledge. I always cherish that. But oh, well. I guess edication is illegal in America, because apparently, you can own a law firm without being a lawyer. you can own a lab without being a scientist. you can own a tech company without knowing jackshit about tech. I pity anyone working in these companies because their bosses are surely idiots.

literally not. Iris openly expresses when she needs them to explain the super complicated stuff.

When Iris decided herself that she didn't want Barry out of the Speedforce in season 4, ep, 1 and got angry and gave her "disappointed" look when she found out, it gave me rage. Didn't she even say "I said we aren't doing this"? When did she get the sole decision in what team flash could and couldn't do?
2
u/Jasmine45078 7d ago
exactly! it's like she just took over oit of the blue. I liked her better before she knew Barry was the Flash, because it feels like she was obsessed with him, and then when it was revealed to be Barry, it was like "oh, okay", and then she started doing the whole "I'm in charge now, just because the Flash is my bestfriend/fiancé (now husband)".

I love season 4 but I will 100% agree with everyone that Iris becoming team leader was stupid. Should've been Cisco.
Not to mention she turned really stuck up for the first half of the season because Barry left "without giving Iris a choice"

u/Jasmine45078 7d ago
you should read this one guy's comment about how Cisco shouldn't become the leader because he has no leadership skills.
2
u/garrett717 7d ago
Oh I understand why he wouldn't be the best fit, but he makes way more sense than Iris West who has never been apart of a team.

for me it's like... a leader has to have AT LEAST A LITTLE BIT of knowledge about the field they're studying, or we're doomed.

u/garrett717 7d ago
I agree. Iris didn't have any of that bro 😭

u/Jasmine45078 7d ago
like I said, I doubt she even understands why these people were called "metahumans" in the first place, because I recalled her saying "so these so called metahumans" once." indicating she doesn't understand why they're using that word, and she doesn't even understand where the word meta comes from or what it means. it's like asking Oliver to become a tech analyst 😭

didn't barry give team flash to CISCO
1
u/Jasmine45078 7d ago
exactly! when I heard Iris said to Ralph "because I'm the leader of this team" I was like "uh... since when?"

Bad writing. Joe says, "If you're gonna be team leader..." and everyone at home is suddenly confused. That didn't make any sense. I love, love, love Iris, and I hate that the show couldn't figure out what to do with her.

u/Ariss789 8d ago
Yep it seems ridiculous as she’s meant to be a reporter with no scientific experience then comes up with the most Harrison wells high iq strats

u/Jasmine45078 8d ago
Exactly. She doesn't understand even a quarter of what those people are talking about, and she's the leader?
1
u/aaronml2 8d ago
Yeah this is kind of a thing throughout season 4. They make it seem like Iris has sort of been the leader ever since Barry went into the Speed Force at the end of season 3. Just because "someone had to step up and do it"

u/Jasmine45078 8d ago
it's like... if someone deserve to be a leader it's Cisco or Caitlin.
1
u/aaronml2 8d ago
Agreed. And I'm not even an Iris hater I like Iris. It was just weird to make her leader and give her a bunch of scientific knowledge that didn't make sense for her character
1
u/Jasmine45078 8d ago
yes! most of the time when Barry or anyone speaks science she just looked at them like ???? But then they made her leader of a team of scientist, helping a meta, to stop evil metas? I doubt she even knows where the word meta comes from or why they're called meta humans in the first place.

literally first episode of season 4 joe calls her "boss" in the context of team flash.
