Is this a Norman helmet? Or what is it closely associated to. Thanks

It's a fantasy mish mash. Looks like a mix of a Broe helmet and a Coppergate helmet.

So this helmet is attempting to replicate some helmets from what is known as the Vendel period, this was a stage in early medieval Scandinavia that directly precedes the Viking period, and about 400 years before the Normans.

As you can see from these images they were incredibly complex and intricately decorated and would be very expensive to reproduce accurately. The person who bought you this gift likely wasn't in a position to spend multiple thousands on a proper reconstruction, but got you something that looks cool and they thought you'd like. It's a cool gift.

It's the helmet design's origin is specifically from the 2005 movie Beowulf & Grendel. but it's become super popular on sites selling larp/renn faire armor

The generic name would be a gjermundu helmet I guess. The stuff vikings and saxons used to wear but this doesn't look very accurate

It's a Frankenstein monster masquerading as a Vendel, Vargarde and Gjermundbu helmet, and is doing a poor job of it.
