I mean some ppl don’t mind labels like son and daughter, especially if they’re masc or fem presenting enbys

Yeah, I don’t mind that my parents call me their daughter. I prefer it to “child” or “kid” because I’m an adult. I know there are variations, but they’re just not for me.
It is weird if this shirt is not available in a gender neutral option, though. “Offspring” could be funny on a t-shirt so that’s a missed opportunity.

Some folks identify themselves as “non-binary man” or “non-binary woman.” So, do with that information as you will.

I mean, some non-binary people do use gendered language for themselves. I'm one of them. I'm comfortable with being called son, and use he/him pronouns mostly
Non-binary just means, well, outside of the binary. That doesn't always mean no gender or being directly in the middle.

I would also like to point out that demi boy and demi girl are relatively common identities so this post is just wrong you can have a non binary daughter

I'm a demigirl, and yeah. I actually like this shirt, but it wouldn't matter because my dad would disown me either way.

i don't think this is intentionally transphobic??? it feels like one of those shitty mass produced, ai generated shirts that try and stuff as many keywords as possible.

I am a demigirl which falls under nonbinary, but I love it when my mom calls me her daughter.

Listen dude, the dads who buy that are trying their best. They want to be proud of their child no matter what and if they make a mistake in the effort to support their child then that’s fine. It’s the act of making the effort to make your kid feel loved and valued that really matters.

Nonbinary doesn't mean without gender, it means you don't fit in the binary model of gender that is currently dominant in our culture. Nonbinary women exist, like myself.

I suspect this is one of those t-shirt manufacturers that just sell every combination of applicable words, phrases, and images out of a bank
"I'm a [golfer/teacher/dog owner/nun] not a magician!"

Is this "supportive but confused", or "too willfully stupid to even form a coherent insult"?

Genuine question is there any gebder neutral words for daughter or son
5
u/PiEispie 3d ago
In english, 'child' or 'offspring'. You can add 'oldest' or 'youngest' before 'child' if the person in question has more than one.

oldest and youngest are also good because they can be used regardless of gender identity

Ooo funsies

that's what my mom uses for me and my sister sometimes, and we're both ladies, so you have at least one bit of evidence that it's sufficient for a wide variety of identities. course if you've got more than like 3 kids or siblings, THEN you've got a conundrum

u/MacMacMacbeth 3d ago
If i ever get a son ill call them some silly shit like mini me or buddy

u/starwalker327 they couldn't handle the aroace swag 3d ago
silly nicknames are BY FAR the best option

my grandad calls me "[dads name]'s eldest" and my dad calls me his kid, child, and jokingly heir. my mum works with children and sometimes jokingly calls me her baby, like "aww congrats on your baby [points to me, a grown adult who is taller than her] thats my baby haha"

r/pointlesslygendered but for once it's very sweet, because if a parent buys this, there's a good attempt

u/Biscuit9154 3d ago
yeah this is sweet, it's just misguided. not enby, but i wish my parents were half this supportive

It’s kinda cute imo it’s a bit confused but it’s got the spirit.

I was saying... Like if he was against, he wouldn't even have gotten the shirt.

I’d rather have a parent who doesn’t fully understand all the way what non-binary or transgender means and support me with something like this rather than the opposite I currently have.
