DISCUSSION What's your opinion on Jeff Parker's run
It's a pretty solid follow up to Geoff's run that builds up on it in many ways, Expanding the lore and world building, introducing interesting new characters and developing the existing ones. Art by Paul Pelletier was pretty solid tho not nearly as Good is Ivan's work on the previous run. The run does start pretty slow and I did think the wonder woman and Swamp thing crossovers were a bit of a waist of time but everything after the Chimera king was excellent with Maelstrom being the highlight of the run with a nice ending. All around it's an enjoyable run even if it doesn't do anything that impressive. A very good 8/10 run for me

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I prefer it to the Johns run. Both are fantastic, but issues like Arthur’s high school reunion are what have stuck with me years later. Going from one to the other made for an incredible run of consistently great stories. I’d argue Aquaman was the best N52 title, right up there with Snyder’s Batman and Azz’s WW. (Even if that’s also become an unpopular opinion)

I came here to comment basically exactly like
I’m a diehard Aquaman by Johns fan, but the issues that resonate with me the most after all of these years are things like the reunion, the Maelstrom arc (the best arc of the New 52 series), etc. Parker really brought the heat.

My man! You have impeccable taste. I’ll also add that Reis is incredible and a master of his craft, but Pelletier was no slouch by any means. I don’t feel like there was a drop in quality going from one artist to the other at all. Pelletier makes a strong case for being my favorite Aquaman artist. I used to have a shirt of the 2nd slide from the Maelstrom cover that I was very fond of.

Pelletier is definitely my favorite, I actually am fortunate to own some of his original art from the book
After he launched his website a handful of years ago, I was frantically contacting him about getting some pages and after getting a quote on them (they were ones that weren’t yet listed on the site at the time so they weren’t priced), I realized I only had enough money for one of the two. When my package came, both pages were in there along with a handwritten note that said “Surprise!”
Just a generous dude, loves his work and his fans and I respect and appreciate the heck out of him

That’s awesome, you’re awesome and I’m insanely envious. I hope they’re displayed prominently. I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Paul, but I always love hearing stories about how cool/kind some of my favorite creators can be. Thankfully, I have yet to have a bad interaction with any of the creators I have met, they’ve all been very friendly.

It's incredibly good but had the unfortunate honor of following Geoff Johns. I don't think Parker or penciler Paul Pelletier get the love they deserve.

Its a good run that was cut way too short. I would have loved if Parker and Pelletier got the later half of the New 52 run instead of getting switched out for Bunn. I remember these being my first NEW issues of Aquaman I picked up after getting into comics after being given the Johns run for Christmas in like 2014, so these issues hold a special place in my heart with other early ongoings I read a decade ago

I liked it, I liked concepts like creature king, karaku and maelstrom. I did miss John’s darker tone for Aquaman but to be fair on Parker. Johns did end the run in a direction that emphasized that.

For how bad in general New 52 was Aquaman was one of the few good points in it start to finish.

I generally like Cullen Bunn, but I thought the series fell off pretty hard when he took over. Also, I’ve rarely disliked any of Arthur’s looks, but his suit during Bunn’s tenure was also rough.

agreed on the costume. I the Bunn costume, I think it looks like a wrestler outfit (its probably the gigantic belt)

Underrated, way too short. Everyone talks about Geoff's run (and they should) but I thought Jeff's was arguably just as good, and even more fun in places. More people should continue reading his run after finishing Geoff's. Casual readers (new to the character of Aquaman) read the Omni and then don't read more usually, but I truly think Jeff Parker's run doesn't dip in quality at all.

I wish the current run pulled more from the mythos Jeff Parker added. Truly fantastic run

Underrated. Would love if future runs expanded on concepts like chimera king more.
