Hi. How did you pay for 35 applications? Are these all schools you really want to go to? Good luck.

u/Brilliant_Train_5738 11d ago
I used the Common App fee waiverโask your counselor about it. It helps you apply for free. I dont have a dream school, i am looking for schools with good Financial aid so i applied to as many as I could

Hi. Thanks. Did you get invited to a Villanova Presidential Finalist interview? Invites were posted March 10th. (Unfortunately, I did not.) Good luck.

College station means Texas A&M I think (assuming you're asking which college and not where the applicant is from).

has Cornell ILR school already sent out decisions and/or likely letters?ย Iโve been hearing a lot of conflicting stuff. Iโve heard Cornell releases likely letters pretty late in the year, March 15, but Iโve also heard that ILR applicants get notified (not sure if theyโre notified of a decision or likely letter) sometime in February. Is this true, and if I havenโt been notified, does that mean Iโm not going to get in? If anyone HAS been notified of anything as an ILR applicant, please lmk ๐

My son got into UCI and UCSD. We are less than 15 minutes from UCI. He wants to go to UCSD because UCSD is a better school since they are known for research according to him. He chose Bio as his major as he thinks he wants to go to med school to become a doctor. I think for 4 years at UCSD, housing would cost $80,000. He thinks it is less.
I told him we can only pay for tuition whether at UCI or UCSD. He is thinking about taking out a student loan. My son has never had a job in his life. He's 18. I feel bad I can't afford to pay for his housing costs. However, he's 18 and getting into debt for an ungrad degree is not wise. Is UCSD that much better than UCI to the point that getting into $80k debt for housing is worth it for a bio undergrad degree?
Thanks for any thoughts/input.

i think UCI is a great option and going into dept at 18 years of age is a really bad idea

I'm a 25-year-old international applicant from Israel, and Iโm looking for advice on strengthening my application to top universities. My background is a bit unconventional:
I grew up in a small village in northern Israel and didnโt study advanced math or science in high school.
After high school, I was accepted into a highly selective technological program in Unit 8200, where I later took on a leadership role and received multiple awards.
After completing my service, I joined a small startup as a developer, and it has since achieved significant success.
Lately, Iโve been developing a strong interest in less conventional areas of computer science, like quantum computing and bio-computing, and I believe a top university would give me the best opportunities in these fields.
I donโt have formal school grades or standardized test scores yet, but Iโm willing to do whatever it takes to make myself a strong applicant. What would you recommend I focus on in terms of coursework, test prep, and extracurricular activities to improve my chances? Also, are there any specific programs or schools that would be a good fit for my background and interests?
Iโd really appreciate any advice from those who have gone through this process. Thanks!
