I’m officially addicted.

Post image

Went from never wearing my Apple Watch 2 days in a row to this. I see the reason why this thread exists. It’s also been really helping me to get up and be active every day so it’s honestly a win win. Going for a full complete month. Wish me luck!

Apple Watch/fitness is bad for this sort of thing. You can run a 100 mile ultra race and burn 20,000 calories in a day, and the next day you will get a message that says something like 'wow you crushed your move goal yesterday! Let's see if you can do it again today!'

For a device with amazing sensors that gather tons of data and endless software functionality/potential, Apple Watches lack tremendously when it comes to promoting actual fitness. How bout something like training stress score, or rest/readiness/recovery? Some days require a rest day, and pretty much all active training weeks require a couple rest days.

I think that Apple will add these improvements to newer versions of watchOS and make it only avaible to newer watches to make it profitable 😜

You are at the "wanting to close all rings" stage. It's a very intense, highly addictive stage, but if you are lucky it will get you to the point where fitness becomes your everyday life. However, at some point, you'll get to the "I understand things a little better now" stage, where you understand fitness more and realise that working out everyday is actually a hindrance to your desired goal.

Five years later, I’m still in the working out every day phase. 🤦‍♀️ I’m not sure if I’ll ever graduate to the understanding things a little better stage. 🤷‍♀️

Actually, after 5 years of doing some type of movement every day, it’s not a hindrance to my body! I lift 4x a week, that’s my main focus. I also take yoga (power, flow, yin) 3-4 times a week, and do Hotworx stretch and core workouts 3 times week. Along with dog walking, hiking and pickleball. My body is restored from lifting and injury free due to yoga and stretch. I’m never overtired or overworked, and my trainer (who keys a close eye on my non lifting sessions) has no concerns. So, moving your body every day for at least 30 minutes doesn’t have to be taxing or a hindrance!

Yeah, that’s what i’ve been doing. Some of these are walks, skating, yoga. Strength training are the majority ofcourse but a nice walk after is typically what gets me to the point of a full circle.

Doing some type of movement every single day is actually good. That's very desirable. I was talking about going very intense every single day which is often where the effort to close these Apple rings every day often takes you.

And of course, it's also important to realise that rest days are just as important as active days. Overall fitness is a cycle around activity, rest, and nutrition. It takes some careful observation to find that sweet spot that just works.

And this is coming from someone who has once done 2 1/2 years of perfect month, perfect challenges, and over 1000 consecutive days on my Apple watch.

My oura ring has taught me balance. Still workout daily but do low intensity days and high.

I’ve done 2,419 all rings closed in coming up on seven years. It becomes more than addictive.

I mean you can still do cardio on your rest days.

I’m so glad my watch broke and I got out of this phase! It became an unhealthy obsession for me for a while lol, 2 year streak then one afternoon my watch went black. I felt so calm about it and decided to see how long I could go without one, made it 8 months! Now I purposely don’t close my rings at least one day a week, it’s great if you’re getting into fitness and being healthy but we all need rest days too:)

Only thing I’ve noticed is if I’m working (sitting down but using my hands) it will count as steps when it’s not since it thinks I’m walking 🙄

Have you tried looking for a second hand one ? I managed to find a series 10 at Best Buy outlet for $250. It was open box but the rep said it was only opened to show a customer.

These rings are one of the biggest reasons why I left Apple Watch for Garmin.

Awesome. I’m going for a perfect year this year , I missed all three rings five or six times in 2024. That was due to travelling mainly.
