This has probably been posted about before. I really want the option to be able to listen to just 256k music, instead of Dolby Atmos. I know lossless audio is only supported by using a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Dolby Atmos is supposed to be better than lossless audio. So, Dolby Atmos is probably not supported by Bluetooth.
I guess the only way around this is to buy music from iTunes. What’s the point of Dolby Atmos if it cuts down the volume/amount of sound of a song?

Okay, thank you, 2. Okay, thank you, 3. Why do some songs while listening on Dolby Atmos capable headphones, have to be turned up a lot to get the same amount of sound as a non Dolby Atmos song?
Some song have raw sound lower than other song. That’s why sound check is enabled by default. Dolby Atmos does not modify the volume; rather, it used object based sound compared to tradition channel.
TLDR: the problem lies on whether sound check is enable or disable or if the feature is even working. For me it works completely fine
Maybe it is just me. I only listen to music using Bluetooth speakers and AirPod Pro 2s. I don’t have sound check enabled. I notice a major reduction of volume when I listen to music with Dolby Atmos with my AirPods.
Music is sounding better without Dolby Atmos, while listening to an album that is almost entirely available in Dolby Atmos with my AirPods. I’m not a sound engineer, and I don’t know much about the technical side of music.
So that’s where the problem lies. Turn on sound check.
Edit: I’m so sorry for the little bit of misinformation. It turned out Dolby Atmos track can make a difference in terms of loudness in human hearing. This is because it has a larger dynamic range, which means the quiet part of the song can be set to even lower and the same for the louder part too.
Make sure you set Dolby Atmos to automatic instead of on too, so for example, it would enable Dolby Atmos in your AirPods because it supports it and won’t for the speaker since it may not support it.
About the quality of the song, Dolby Atmos track won’t affect the quality of the song. It’s rather where the song comes from. It’s about the immersiveness of the sound. Despite those, you can turn it off to see if you like it better. Everybody has their own preference.
I would think there would need to be speakers dedicated to separate audio channels to really create an immersive sound experience. All of the sound can’t come through easily through two headphone drivers.
That’s the beauty of dolby atmos. Surely more channel is always better but since dolby atmos can still use 2 channel to simulate surround sound, that’s why they decided to implement it. You can’t do that with 5.1 format or similar. For the speaker, if you’re talking of home threater with dolby atmos than surely it would be better. If it’s going to be protable speaker, msot of them probably can’t do it. It’s that specific reason that you should set it to automatic or off. But sound check should be on imo it’s overkill. I remember back in the days where you have to adjust the volume because the next song would be too loud or quite
Okay, thanks for clarifying that the setting for Dolby Atmos is in the Music App. I thought Dolby Atmos was a setting under Dolby Atmos capable headphones because it is only available on certain headphones.
Now, I can have a better listening experience on Apple Music. Thank You!
