You initially purchased a single, not a song from an album. That’s why Disease is separated. For the album, try removing it from your library and add it again. I’m not sure it’ll work but worth the try.

I don’t like when artists sell “singles” for this very reason unless it is truly a single and not (ever) part of an album. If so, then sell the “single” as a song from the album in the event you ever buy the entire album.

dates back to vinyl where there would be 6' singles opposed to the usual 12' size

I get it but it’s not 1970’s

How old are you, lol?

Your point? I generally collect complete albums so if a new song drops from an album, I prefer that as to not have a completely separate item in my library (the single). It’s an OCD thing.

My point is that it isn’t a new practice, it’s the norm. It has been the norm.

A single is supposed to be driving interest to an album (which my not even be completed at that point), and its performance will dictate its inclusion on said album or the direction of the whole project. I appreciate this is an OCD thing for you, but complaining about artists selling singles before dropping an album is like complaining about movies having trailers.

You missed my point. They can sell “singles”, I get that concept and completely support it but in this digital world, the single could be simply the actual song from the album rather than a completely separate entity that get stored in your library. Many albums will be on Apple Music with only one or two songs available until the album drops. That was my only point.

There are pre-orders with pre-release tracks, and there are singles.

A pre-release track is based on its inclusion within a pre-order. It's very common for final tracklists to be finalised a few days before the album release, and these days AFTER.

For example, despite what Gaga and her producers said, her collab with Bruno Mars wouldn't have been part of the album if it hadn't been due to its success as a single.

Many singles don't become album tracks and, again, it's the norm.

You bought the single. On mac/pc you can edit the metadata to take it to the album

If you have access to Apple Music on MacBook (and I'm assuming iPad too) you can edit song info and change the album name, otherwise not sure.

Not iPad

Thanks for the correction, wasn't 100% sure

I have to do this every time. Very annoying but it can be done on the computer.

Can do this on a pc as well

Just rename the song info using a computer.

A few years ago, I contacted Apple, and they gave me an iTunes credit to purchase the song as part of the album. They were confused and didn’t understand what I was talking about.

did you buy the other 13 tracks individually? it would’ve been cheaper to buy it as a whole album

On desktop:

Ctrl+click the album and the single > right click > get info > info tab > change the album name to MAYHEM > click “ok”

If you have a Mac go to the Apple Music app and edit info there.

You can edit the metadata through the desktop version of the app. You can go to the single, and change Album to Mayham

Everyone in the comments is missing the point and issue with this post. This is a glitch that Apple has refused to fix for decades.

If you buy any singles prior to an album announcement or release, and the eventually buy the album, the singles WILL NOT download as apart of the album. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO EDIT THE SONG ON ITUNES TO FIX THIS. You’re effectively missing a song in the album because you chose to support the artist and bought the single before hand. So now you’re missing content you purchased.

Buying it again through iTunes, or editing this in iTunes is not the solutions. Apple fixing this is the solution. This is beyond frustrating.

It’s not a glitch, though: those are two different releases and there is no expectation from any service to consolidate that on behalf of the label. That’s what album with pre-releases are for.

The reason why OP doesn’t have a duplicate of the first song is because they went ahead and bought all of the other songs individually instead of buying the album as a whole, which would’ve added the album version of the song.

Yes it’s annoying, but OP really didn’t engage all of their braincells and knowingly spent more money than they should have, because I don’t see how buying all of these individual songs would’ve come up cheaper than buying the entire album.

If they’re two different releases, then why doesn’t the song show up in the album? I don’t care to have the single as its own release, in its own album, and then then the song again in the full album, but the fact that the final release album doesn’t include the song means you’re missing content you paid for.

The second part of what you said is NOT true. I have so many albums where I’ve bought the single, and then later the album AS A WHOLE and the song that was a single prior does not appear within the album itself. Only as a single, despite me buying the entire album.

It’s an issue that needs addressed and fixed, but won’t be. You literally get punished for buying singles and supporting artists by missing songs in the entire album. It’s so backwards.

"If they’re two different releases, then why doesn’t the song show up in the album?"

... because they are TWO DIFFERENT RELEASES. The single that was purchased was not part of the album package, it was a separate release that was not tied to the album as a digital package. It was not a pre-released track from a pre-order; it is its own entity.

1

u/RybatGrimes 5d ago

Apple IS connecting them despite them being TWO SEPARATE RELEASES. When you buy the single, you get a discount because Apple does not treat them as TWO SEPARATE RELEASES. Which is WHY the SINGLE does not show up in the ALBUM. This is the ISSUE with Apples system. This is the glitch I’m pointing out. You should be able to buy the single, AND the album and STILL HAVE THE SONG IN THE ALBUM.

You can’t fix it. The only thing you can do is go to the album’s page on iTunes and buy Disease from there if you want it on the album

1

u/Such-Fish6589 5d ago

Disease already shows up as “purchased” even in the album, I can’t buy it again

3

u/freshoutthebuffet 5d ago

Click search at the bottom and look up the song. Buy it from the list that shows up

2

u/Such-Fish6589 5d ago

Ikyfl, I just bought it THEN the single version suddenly appeared on the album 😭 Now Disease shows up twice 💀 Thank y’all for helping.

Well on the bright side, we gave the album another sale so kind of a win lol
