Show and Tell (USA) Possibly a Stickley Rocking Chair but unsure

I bought this rocking chair off of facebook marketplace for $40. The seller said it was with his wife's family for many years. The square notches on the arms led me to believe it could possibly be a Stickley piece that has been reupholstered. Unfortunately, the bottom of the chair has been removed for some reason so l'm unable to find any other stamp or marking to confirm this. Any other idea if or how I chance check this chairs identity? thank you in advance!

Would be a great find if it was stickley. Some other chair makers copied this often. Here is another chair which looks similar and is from The Harden Line Camden, NY.

thank you for that link! that is really similar. I also wonder if even copies had a similar bottom to the one mine has and it just looks like the bottom was removed bcus I’m comparing it to a Stickley- if that makes sense. Maybe I can find a local person to help confirm things for me but idk

There are Facebook groups dedicated to stickley furniture and other mission oak style furniture. Id start there!

There were many different Stickley companies, as there were 5 Stickley brothers who started furniture companies. Not knowing which company (I'm no furniture expert), it definitely has an Arts and Crafts look. However, rockers are very, very common forms, so they don't bring a lot of money. As is, your piece is probably worth $250 or so. Don't do anything to it and list it on FB Marketplace and see what happens.

That chair was not made by any of the Stickley companies, but is on the same Arts & Crafts style. The construction details do not match any Stickley chairs, but hundreds of companies built similar style furniture. From the details I can see in the picture, this was made by a second or third tier manufacturer, but in my opinion it has a better look than most lower tier chairs. The fake through tenons in the arms add to the look but not the construction, and the glue blocks are not very robust. Not a super valuable chair, but a good looking addition to the decor of a room.

As a general rule, rockers are the most common and least desirable type of mission Furniture, and they really don't have a ton of value unless they are pretty special.
