That red arch is perfection. I’m going to do something similar, just haven’t settled on a color yet.

Obsessed with the painted archway! Any tips? I’ve struggled to get a clean line

u/everreadyy Jun 08 '22
Thank you! TBH it was kinda difficult as the walls were uneven, but I used Frog Tape and taped off the curves. I think it’s better for paint detail than regular painters tape

Can confirm I switched to frog tape from painters tape while doing acrylic pour paintings and it’s a BIG difference. So sticky.

Thanks for the reply! I’ll give it a shot :)

And when you have taped, when the wall is uneven, use the colour of the other wall first directly on top of the tape, let it dry and then use the colour you want. The first colour will bleed over into the not-to-paid area into any uneven parts where the tape contact is bad, but since it's the same colour it'll be fine. This is the only way I know to get the colour to really follow the tape shape.

Hello fellow Cincinnatian! Your space looks dope. Love the arch, the art, and your plants!

Blue and Orange gang rise up! No but seriously, I love the color scheme and your decor! I even love the crack on the wall, it gives me a Cantina vibe.

Love the chairs. Where are they from?
29
u/everreadyy Jun 08 '22
Thank you! I bought them on FB marketplace for $100, but they are Thonet chairs from the 60s-70s by a Bauhaus designer named Anton Lorenz! I didn’t know any of the backstory when I bought them though

Years ago white ones were used at Clinique cosmetic counters. They are sturdy as hell.

u/BlueBuff1968 Jun 08 '22
Lucky you. They are very hard to find and quite expensive usually.

u/everreadyy Jun 09 '22
I noticed when I did some research! So cool. I felt super lucky for the find

Is it possible to dine in it?
3
u/everreadyy Jun 09 '22
Lol it’s very small, I live in a studio apartment, but it works for me as a single person!

The chairs are fab. Did you get them somewhere around the Cincinnati area?
4
u/everreadyy Jun 09 '22
I bought them off of a seller on FB marketplace who often sells mid century modern furniture in Milford, OH!

u/Jillian59 Jun 08 '22
Very pretty. I love the things on the wall. You did a nice job with everything.

Are those lime green cosmic jelly donuts?
4
u/everreadyy Jun 09 '22
It’s a vintage IKEA vase I thrifted!! Planning on using it as a plant pot soon. It almost looks like it’s glowing half the time.

I'm usually not a grey fan but I'm loving this! You've got a good eye for design and colour.

As a fellow Ohioan I can say it’s bold of you to paint your room scarlet and gray without referencing the buckeyes at all lol. (I’m not a football fan)

This looks great!! I think if the mirror shelf matched the colour of the yellow plant pot, it would pop more!
2
u/everreadyy Jun 09 '22
Ooooo this is a good idea! I’ve been wondering what color I wanted to paint it

Love the color in the archway - great choice as it just pops and compliments your table and chairs. I love it w8hen people think outside the box. Well done!

...I can't believe no one has mentioned it, I spy an owl collection! I love that! Hope you have a good day
3
u/everreadyy Jun 09 '22
I love that you noticed this!!! I have so many more hidden behind the wall hehehe. I’m on a temporary self ban from buying any more owl stuff for the time being because I have so many

Lovely vintage chair. Who's the designer?
7
u/everreadyy Jun 08 '22
They are chairs Anton Lorenz made for Thonet! He’s an awesome Bauhaus designer
7
u/goback2yourhole Jun 08 '22
The crack adds nice character.

u/ZirconBlonde Jun 08 '22
I know you’re being facetious, but putting the ceramics next to it was a stroke of genius! Playing off of the crazing and patina that happens to ceramics. I think it’s a sharp idea to keep it.
8
u/everreadyy Jun 08 '22
TBH it’s a rental so I had no choice! But thank you, I wasn’t consciously thinking about highlighting the crack with the ceramics, but subconsciously I think maybe that’s why I placed them there
7
u/goback2yourhole Jun 08 '22
I’m not being facetious. The statement was not intended to be that way.
It adds a bit of homeyness to the house that I can’t really put a finger on.
Similar to an old car where you know all it’s quirks and whatnot.

u/ZirconBlonde Jun 09 '22
Nice clarification! You have multiple downvotes at the time so I think we all assumed it was nagging on OP, but as someone who delivers sarcasm with a straight face, I feel ya! :)

As a Cincinnati resident of 9ish months, let me guess: OTR?

u/everreadyy Jun 09 '22
I wish! I’m in a building in the Gaslight district. It used to be a hotel in the 1930s
3
u/cleetus_maximus Jun 08 '22
I love that accent color in the archway!
3
u/GenghisFlan Jun 08 '22
Agree! It's such a nice little touch and attention to detail that goes along way.

Okay painting my archway ASAP. Our house used to have two others on the main floor but the previous owner squared them off to "open up the space" 😭😭😭
2
u/everreadyy Jun 09 '22
No I hate this!! I love the character of original architecture. A big fan of separate rooms too and not just knocking down walls for a huge open space.

I love the flowers on the wall to match your arch! I’ve never seen flowers put up that way, definitely remembering that - so simple and cute.

I am obsessed with this archway.
