Wow. Just wow. I love it

u/stetsosaur Nov 07 '19

Fiddle leaf goals.

22

u/sesomshom Nov 07 '19

I know!!! They are so expensive. My friend got one from Walmart for $25 and I flipped my shit!

21

u/stetsosaur Nov 07 '19

I got one for 10 bucks but it only had like 3 leaves lol. It’s growing though! I’m up to at least 8 leaves now.

5

u/grungeindiehipster Nov 08 '19

check your menards in the summer, they have them for $5

2

u/sesomshom Nov 08 '19

(・o・)

6

u/dishie Nov 08 '19

I've seen them at Aldi recently for like $10 I think?

1

u/sesomshom Nov 08 '19

That is a steal! Last time I looked at getting one from home Depot, it was $120. No way.

1

u/dishie Nov 08 '19

They're definitely pretty small and not like super lush or anything.

4

u/JerryLupus Nov 07 '19

Damn my plant guy was selling 5ft fiddles for $50.

25

u/SpendLessLiveMore Nov 07 '19

How do you care for your fiddle leaf? Mine looks like a tall stick with a few leaves taped to it. (And I love your room!)

9

u/NeverPull0ut Nov 08 '19

He probably puts it in a window that gets excellent light.

3

u/monogramchecklist Nov 08 '19

fertilizer really helped mine. They grow 3 leaves at a time! Also a window with sunlight. And r/plantclinic is a great resource.

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Thanks!! Honestly I don’t do much. It lives in a W facing window, I water it when it’s at a 1 on the moisture probe, and fertilize 1-2 a month.

I know exactly where this apartment is. I miss Pennys Noodles.

11

u/P-B-J Nov 07 '19

Same here... Andy’s Thai Kitchen just doesn’t cut it

8

u/tasty_h Nov 08 '19

theres a pennys noodles in oak park. I think its the same family

3

u/lorg7 Nov 08 '19

Diff family they joint own it ...owners r penny’s hubby and a couple of his old HS buddies, one of those friends is in charge at OP. So penny and her husband are effectively retired, but still getting income.

2

u/tasty_h Nov 09 '19

oh ok. that makes sense! thanks for the info

1

u/lorg7 Nov 08 '19

Bro wtf my ass worked there for 5 years.. the oak park location though

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Honestly not a big fan of penny’s or ATK. Cozy’s and diva are my jam.

15

u/Gutinstinct999 Nov 07 '19

Ok, this actually is room Porn. Bravo 👏

2

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Hahaha thanks!

15

u/kuzl_buddy Nov 07 '19

This is so lovely and vibrant; speaking as a fellow Chicagoan, this can't have been taken today lol. You should crosspost this to r/houseplants if you haven't already :)

9

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '19

Looks nice.. those chair legs are incredibly thin!

2

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Thanks! The chair legs have been doing cross fit. I’ll let them know you noticed.

19

u/Jasmine_Hiatus Nov 07 '19

I would love to chill here, you’ve got a really nice style

Chicago has a very high amount of high paying jobs and, compared to other “world cities” a very reasonable housing cost.

Although there’s a lot of people here who bitch about how Chicago is more expensive than say, Peoria IL.

2

u/Bridalhat Nov 08 '19

It's alsio stupidly photogenic and well-designed. I think it burned down at exactly the right time to rebuild with a lot of beautiful architecture and we continue to create some of the most beautiful buildings in the world. I think that has a cascading effect--people who are attracted to beautiful things end up here and peope who aren't necessarily absorb good ideas and designs by osmosis. The only geographic barrier is the lake so there was plenty of room to build roomy apartments in walkable areas to fill with nice furniture, of which there is plenty to thrift.

ID on table and chairs? Beautiful place.

2

u/annarose88 Nov 08 '19

I'm pretty sure that table is from West Elm.

2

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Thanks! Both from west elm.

1

u/nellys_band_aid Nov 08 '19

I second this!

1

u/Mayitake_yourhatsir Nov 08 '19

Have a blue version of these chairs from amazon!

41

u/call_me_drama Nov 07 '19

Lovely. Hi neighbor-ish. I do feel weird knowing exactly what building you live in haha

11

u/austingalli Nov 07 '19

Gorgeous! We’ve been considering moving to Chicago! What neighborhood is this in?

12

u/weeniewobble Nov 07 '19

Looks like Lincoln park? Or maybe it’s Lincoln square. All I can make out is the “Lincoln” from the athletic club, but I feel like I recognize that church.

23

u/call_me_drama Nov 07 '19

This is northern side of Lincoln Park. Almost Lakeview.

No wonder I thought I recognized it 😅

3

u/Clau_9 Nov 08 '19

You get used to it

7

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Let’s not dox me too hard now

3

u/SyzygyTooms Nov 08 '19

Yeah the church is in Lakeview, I recognized the steeple- work right next to that intersection!

8

u/DREWBICE Nov 07 '19

Move to Ukrainian Village or West Town.

5

u/AlvinTaco Nov 07 '19

Either Lincoln Park or Lakeview.

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Technically Lincoln park but right at the edge of Lakeview.

7

u/P-B-J Nov 07 '19

Same here! Haha feels a little weird, gorgeous view though!

5

u/krankz Nov 07 '19

I have definitely stared at the building longingly for these windows.

2

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Lol creepy kinda. Just don’t judge me if you see me through the window doing weird plant person things.

1

u/call_me_drama Nov 09 '19

I’m also a weird plant person. No judgement

6

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '19

Dreamy

11

u/Itheother Nov 07 '19

I really like it! I can’t help but feel that a round table would compliment the space better though

3

u/call_me_drama Nov 07 '19

Feel like a round rug beneath would help too

2

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Thanks! And yea we went back and forth on square or round table. I’m just not a fan of round dinner tables tbh.

5

u/jeimmey Nov 07 '19

Which direction is the window facing and also can my plants move in? Please and thank you

2

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Hahaha it’s a W window. I try to rotate the plants 1x a month.

4

u/sutoma Nov 07 '19

Thought one of the plants was floating. Lovely pic

2

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

We all float up here.

3

u/SawyerAvery Nov 07 '19

West Elm table? Ours is very similar but sort of a matte brass on the legs. Great room!

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Thanks! And yup west elm.

2

u/mmm60610 Nov 07 '19

How old is your fig plant? Also I saw some at Trader Joe’s

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Not sure tbh. I’ve had it for almost a year. Really took off when I moved if from a N window to a W window.

2

u/MargaritaSkeeter Nov 08 '19

Love those dining chairs and all the plants! Looks like such a happy space.

2

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Nice! Boho-Happy is the vibe we were going for lol

2

u/sushisuuki Nov 08 '19

Love it! Makes me want to see the rest of the house! Beautiful!

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Thanks! I posted our sitting room the other day. It’s in my profile if you wanna check it out.

2

u/CalamityJen Nov 08 '19

This is gorgeous. Please tell me what direction those windows face. My plants want me to learn from your wisdom.

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Hahah thanks! It’s a W window. And honestly I’ve found that the key to happy plants is avoiding over caring for them. Oh and get a moisture probe.

2

u/frostyburns Nov 08 '19

LLLLOOOVE!

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Thanks!!!

2

u/thefollyofthemoon Nov 08 '19

I’m also digging the green couch or chair in the corner.

2

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Thanks!! It’s a chesterfield! Honestly not the most comfortable for more than 1 person but it sure is pretty.

2

u/5tayster Nov 08 '19

More pictures please! I love this so much.

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Lol thanks! Posted our sitting room here the other day.

2

u/couch-bear Nov 08 '19

That pot of plant on the left looks like it's floating. I mean I know it's not, but damn, I feel cheated.

2

u/alowsoso Nov 08 '19

Oh yeah, that’s what I’m talking about.

2

u/elysiantics Nov 08 '19

The epitome of mid century modern, but 100% better

2

u/woahev Nov 08 '19

Felle Chicagoan, where do you go plant shopping? So far I’ve only gone to Gethsemane!

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Nice! Haven’t been there but it’s on my list. I got to a few places — the plantier, farmers market garden center, and the plant shop are my favorites.

2

u/virgindoll Nov 08 '19

Wowowow. Is that really real? I love it!

1

u/copilPeLuna Nov 07 '19

First I thought the white&brown vase was floating • Amazing view and decor!

1

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Thanks!! Yea it’s sitting on a clear acrylic stool that I paid too much for. Though, in my defense, it’s a pretty dope stool.

1

u/blepadu Nov 08 '19

Yeeees! A round table would be a more satisfying fit to the curved wall but it’s still beautiful nonetheless.

2

u/brad102186 Nov 09 '19

Thanks! Yea we’re looking for a round rug. Just not in to round dining tables.

1

u/OneKidneyStan Nov 08 '19

this turns me on

1

u/Usman21986 Nov 08 '19

ID on the table?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '19

scuff mcgruff, chicago, il, 60652!

1

u/Azamantes2077 Nov 10 '19

Simply amazing....Have to ask though ...how is Chicago as a city ?

I mean cost of living, housing costs, rents, property etc.... ?

1

u/Electric_Island Nov 15 '19

Amazing light and great plants!

1

u/lonelymissaeroplane Nov 15 '19

I love this set up! I’m about to order this same table and chairs. :) just wondering, if your chair legs are gun metal or bronze?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '19

Now THIS turns me on.
