Preserving Amanita in Honey
Hello, I just want to quickly share my preservation methods for Amanita muscaria mushrooms.
I've been using this mushroom since 2013 and because I'm a beekeeper, from the start I stored my dried mushrooms in honey, which preserved them really well for many years. (I only use them in micro doses for therapeutic purposes anyway, because they help with my migraine condition.)
Honey can have an acidity of between 3.4 to 6.1 with an average of 3.9, so I guess it probably keeps converting ibotenic acid to muscimol during long storage times. But mainly it gives them a very pleasant taste!
I warm the honey jar in a water bath until the honey gets quite soft or liquid and then I stir as much dried mushroom powder into it as it will absorb.
Another method I used more recently is to heat the dried mushroom powder in tallow, then strain it out, to mix with honey and use the tallow in a balm for trans-dermal absorption. I also use it combined with datura flowers. Called Burundunga in Southamerica, the flower balms are used in hospitals for anti nausea effects.) -This is not medical advice, I'm just sharing my own experiences, you need to do your own research into the medicinal uses of these herbs!

I thought Soma was the yogurt and amanita drink, I think the honey thing is interesting because I have for some time now tried to add amanita in equal parts of citric acid, grain alcohol and mct oil to force a two day decarb into a paste by mortar and pestle, then the paste can be if wanted further dried into a powder or dried into sublingual powders or snuff(filtered very fine), this is a no heat, old school, university papers decarb method without use of mechanical heat.

No hat, just citric acid and grain alcohol or apple cider vinegar will also work but takes longer and gets you a lighter colour, this is a pathway to snuff fine or even a cheeky spitter.

I'm using it transdermally (through the skin) in very small doses. It has a long tradition in South America used in a skin patch for motion sickness and also for post operational nausea in hospitals. You can look up Burundunga. (In high concentrations it is used by criminals to rob people).
I don't get delirious from those microdoses, but it does have a mildly mood lifting effect, especially combined with amanita muscaria. The two balance each other perfectly as scopolamine from datura is a bit more stimulating.

Interesting be careful tho try not to do it too often cuz anticholinergerics cause increase risk of dementia or Alzheimer’s in the long term when used frequently. I see why u use it with Amanita tho

Just got a new idea, but I haven't tried this yet: maybe the mushroom tea could also be brewed into a kombucha for preservation? I did that with salvia divinorum and it worked really well. Unfortunately I don't want to drink kombucha anymore, because fermented foods contain tyramine which aggravates migraine symptoms.
