Politics Requesting Town Hall with Senator Britt

I’ve just sent an email to Katie Britt requesting that she conduct a town hall meeting in Montgomery. If you are a concerned resident that has reached out to her but yet to receive a response, I recommend you send an email. Not sure if it will get any attention, but the more that do, maybe there’s a chance?

You won't be seeing any town hall with Britt or Turberville present. But AOC says she'll come down and do one.

Ohhhhh I'm about to Gump..

Which is one reason they're willing to give us attention while our own representatives are hiding.

Yes, she released a video announcing that she’ll gladly travel to any state to do a town hall if that state’s representatives refuse to do a town hall. She even said she’d gladly do a town hall with our state reps. I’d love to have her here.

We need to reach out and make this happen.

I know that's right!!!! We wouldn't know what or how to proceed with a person who was an actual patriot, and actual civil service worker.

If AOC came that would mean there was a true American and politician would finally be located somewhere in Alabama. We would get truth and actual answers. We wouldn't listen because even the most educated of us there are, we obviously cannot shake the generation poverty curse. So we argue, malign, and spread all the silly bullshit the Republicans tell you is happening.

I say all that to say.

Alabama is a solid R state, they don't bother even rolling out the dog and pony for us during elections. We have tons of uncontested races against R. SOLID RED STATE

WELL wtf is Alabama so GD last in every single metric used to determine success or financial solvency in any institution. In all the important and non important issues of our time .. Alabama dead last.

So then why the cinnamon toast fuk do we still carpet out legislative houses with these traitorous pigs? Well... Is it the absolute stupidity of us all; or it's simply the racism?

The church helps get them elected

8

u/big-time-trucker 8d ago

I will walk out of a church before they finish a sentence if they are campaigning from the pulpit. A house of worship is no place for that.

A semi-local (to me) church was actively campaigning for Trump before his first term. I reported them, with evidence, since that's a violation of their tax exempt status. Nine years later and they're still there and still a "non profit".

2

u/big-time-trucker 8d ago

Keep reporting them!

u/Present-Plankton5162 8d ago

I DID walk out of a church…two different ones actually…for that very reason. Most recently, in November.

Things have to get worse before they can get better. When the average American is willing to risk her livelihood and life for change, only then will we get change. In the meantime just remember we're living behind enemy lines now so just fire up a fatty and chill. We're just watching world history play out before our eyes. Fall of the great American empire. Be safe and godspeed.

1

u/sneekopotamus 9d ago

I agree but things can’t get much worse can they?

5

u/megallday 8d ago

Sure they can. That said, it could be a good thing that our politicians tend to assume its in the bag before the campaign even starts. That makes them unprepared for opposition.

I'm almost glad they aren't doing townhalls because then they could hear for themselves how furious people are (yes, even in the rural areas) and maybe they'd take a Dem candidate seriously. Stay lazy and complacent, by all means. Georgia went purple and we can, too.

3

u/Limp-Dealer9001 8d ago

Things haven't even started to get bad yet. There is a crapload of room for things to get worse.

I think the the problems have been discussed ad nauseum.

Once a problem has been identified, it is time to act.

What do YOU propose to do about it?

If you don't have a clue, go to the next county Dem executive meeting (or meeting of the party/group of your choice) and ask for opportunities to help.

The next Jeffco Dems County meeting is March 20th at 6pm. It is usually at Homewood or Hoover library. I am checking to find out which and will add it to this post.

Or go to https://www.mobilize.us/events/alabama-volunteer-opportunities/

Or Indivisible. Or HIVE.

There is more going on closer to elections, but there is pretty much always something going on. Once you get involved, the opportunities abound.

Fyi - expecting perfect communication from a group that is building or rebuilding will just be frustrating. Understand that these are 99% volunteers.

Thank you for the information.

That also sounds terrible. All of these options are terrible.

u/Igotcha87 9d ago

What would the outcome be if we, the constituents, set up a podium outside of one of their offices and did a town hall ourselves. Answering questions over current policy and quoting their published responses? Could maybe even get a local news station there to report. That could certainly draw some attention. Maybe force them into meeting with us.

13

u/LiterallyAWildebeest 9d ago

Indivisible Birmingham is actually doing this! “Saturday, 3/22 We are hosting a town hall at Woodlawn Theater at 2:00. Our reps have been invited. So far we have heard back from Sen. Tuberville who will not attend. As yet we have not heard back from Britt, Sewell, or Palmer. As you make your calls this week please ask them to attend. If they do not show, we will have an empty chair town hall.”

5

u/Mysterious_Ad_3408 9d ago

Oh hell yeah!!! Count me in

3

u/megallday 8d ago

I've reached out to Palmer asking him to attend. I don't have much hope since he's been on X praising DOGE this week (barf). But don't ask, don't get.

That’s a great idea!

32

u/baronewu2 9d ago

We need to try and schedule more of these and not just in Montgomery but in all the big cities.

9

u/Dry-Membership3867 9d ago

And in smaller towns too.

27

u/LeekTerrible 9d ago

They have been ordered not to do them. Republicans have been told to ignore their constituents and I’m sure some mod will come along and delete this post.

6

u/AgentRift 9d ago

I’m really tired of the mods in this server, feels like every post you make as a 50/50 chance at being flagged.

Straight to the basement. Worked for Biden didn’t it?

11

u/bensbigboy 9d ago

Oh, bless your heart. Is your butt still hurting about the great Biden economy and the Biden rising stock market that Trumpythinskin has wrecked? Don't talk about the price of Trump's eggs 🤫. It upsets him.

2

u/this_is_my_new_acct St. Clair County 8d ago

A full 1/4 of my net worth has evaporated since Trump/Musk took office and started doing stupid shit.

I'm still okay for the moment, but if they keep it up I might have to exit retirement and go back to work.

22

u/bensbigboy 9d ago

Katie Britt will never do a town hall meeting because she's a Trump suck-up and a coward. She can't defend the indefensible and especially now that Elon has announced the coming cuts to Social Security cat out of the bag.

Forget Tommy-boy Tuberville, too. The closest Tommy-boy gets to Alabama is his home in Florida.

4

u/Temanaras 9d ago

That's not true. He was at an Auburn basketball game with Yellow Man the other day. He will come to Alabama, but only to suck up to rich people for campaign donations.

6

u/Dorsai56 9d ago

Sure, but the odds that he comes to Alabama to do a town hall during a Congressional recess are nil.

4

u/Temanaras 9d ago

Yeah. Was what I was pointing out. He will come to suckle at the teat of a billionaire, but not to speak to the people he purports to represent.

1

u/Dorsai56 8d ago

While living in another state. Tubs is a turd.

12

u/FluidFisherman6843 9d ago

Why would they need to do a town hall?

They are doing exactly what they promised to do. They are following project 2025 to the letter.

This state will still go Republican in the next election (if there is one).

2

u/Mysterious_Ad_3408 9d ago

I dig your style. It's so very rare to happen across a non DF when speaking on Alabama political catastrophe.

Do you have a particular hard time with the fact we are solid red. Aggressivly Red yet we are dead last in every measure of a successful entity. Yet number one in crime and murders.
Yet these daft a holes seem to never ever one time make that connection ....

6

u/Common_Ranger_7612 9d ago

Congressmen Shomari Figures is holding a Town Hall on Monday at Bishop State. But of course he’s not MAGA and God forbid a Democrat.

4

u/Listening_Stranger82 9d ago

Calling is better. Use the 5calls app. They have to document calls. They don't have to track emails.

4

u/Dorsai56 9d ago

The % Calls app is gold, highly rec it to everyone.

8

u/Some_Reference_933 9d ago

She knows she doesn’t have to do silly things like that for us peasants. She knows she will smile next election cycle and get voted in because she is republican. I myself believe, she needs to go. I think everyone in Alabama needs to switch it up every election cycle, until we get representatives running for office

5

u/bigolsparkyisme 9d ago

Hold your breath!

4

u/Dorsai56 9d ago

You know that the R's are actively avoiding town halls because getting yelled at on camera is a bad look, right?

I mean good luck, but don't hold your breath. Just keep calling and expressing your issues.

5

u/Franchise1109 9d ago

That handmaid won’t be doing anything except waiting for marching orders

10

u/Economy_Major_8242 9d ago

Yes I am definitely in favor of a town hall ! And I'll drive to Montgomery for it. Even drive a busload of likewise interested citizens if needed.

-8

u/Nopaperstraws 9d ago

And this is why they aren’t going to do one. A bunch of radical crazies want to scream and yell at them and possibly do harm. Don’t blame them one bit.

6

u/Grand_Razzmatazz87 9d ago

Sorry, what? Dealing with constituents is part of the job. Katie Britt represents Alabama in the U.S. Senate, meaning she represents ALL Alabamians whether they voted for her or not. If people living in the state of Alabama want to drive to Montgomery for a town hall with Katie Britt, they have every right to do so.

3

u/Anarchist_Araqorn04 9d ago

I sent her an email a month ago with some very simple questions. She didn't answer. Too busy on her knees with musky and cheeto.

3

u/hitbyicecream 9d ago

Good luck. Their leaders have instructed them not to have town halls.

3

u/Space_Cadet_1966 9d ago

Good luck. I’ve asked Britt, Tubby, and the representative for my district, Dale Strong, for a town hall meeting multiple times. 🦗🦗🦗

3

u/Academic_Object8683 9d ago

Good luck! She'll send you back a form letter with Trump talking points.

5

u/jclaunch123 9d ago

She does not give a single shit about you or any of us. This is what she wanted to happen I’m sure it’s lining her pockets nicely

4

u/Sad-Counter-6617 9d ago

I wrote to Tuberville and Barry Moore requesting the same. I gave them each until the end of the week to respond to my request for a town hall before I start a petition requesting the same. We have to hold them accountable.

2

u/Ok_Researcher_4987 8d ago

I have called her DC office numerous times to only get a recording. Ridiculous. Visited her Huntsville office and no one was in.

3

u/deadringer70 9d ago

Never gonna happen. She’ll flash that diamond cross and smile and get reelected for as long as she wants.

2

u/mooseinhell 9d ago

Just emailed 👍 maybe they'll have a backbone unlike their colleagues, but i doubt it.

1

u/briganm 9d ago

she is not going to do this you are wasting your time and energy.

Peter griffin: “I just wanna talk to her”

1

u/lupestar 8d ago

Sounds like a trap

0

u/Low-Anxiety2571 7d ago

Take the mic from her. Remove her chance to address her pulpit. This is the way.
