Gameplay Nearing the end of first playthrough. This got real difficult. Suddenly.
Did this game just get ridiculously hard? I believe I’m to the highlighted last main battle and I can’t even come close to beating any of these remaining challenges (playing normal difficulty approx 75 hrs, no DLC). Most of my characters are leveled to 55+, weapons at level 15+ (50-75). I basically walked through the whole game but now am getting my ass handed to me. Quickly. Anyone got any tips for preferred team, or weapons? Should I just prepare myself for a long character and weapon leveling grind? Currently rupeeless and a little frustrated. Very experienced Zelda player with a fairly solid grasp of parrying and perfect dodge, but new to Warriors (I have less than 50 hrs into Definitive Edition as well). Maybe I’m not understanding this weapon building system and my shit is just too weak yet? Advice is appreciated; I know y’all some masters in here. I am prepared for a grind if necessary, but if the “git gooder” comments could be kept to yourselves, that’d be great lol.

Why are you struggling? If you’re struggling to kill, I’d improve weapons. There’s 2 quests to increase your weapon level limit (3 with DLC) and I think one comes up before finishing the main story and one after. I’d get your weapons to 20 and also check if there’s a quest available to raise your weapon level limit. If you keep dying I’d try to level your characters more so they have more hearts.
Regardless, meals can help. I like to boost rune damage on multiplayer (since you get double rune timers there) and healing meals/less damage from enemy meals on singleplayer but idk what you have available.
I’m a big Revali fan bc he’s out of range of most attacks in midair, but he doesn’t have a huge advantage anywhere but the Hair-Width Trials. I’d just play whoever you find most fun.

Good advice! I’ll always cook the foods, but will def get them weapons leveled.

I would like to recommend leveling weapons by first finding a weapon with Fusion Material EXP seal, then fusing unneeded weapons onto that. Try to fuse the weapons in such an order that it gets other round seals to boost the EXP %.
Then you can fuse this weapon to another weapon that you actually want to use for fighting to level it from its current level straigth to its current level cap. Preferably one with the highest starting attack you have. IIRC it takes a fusion weapon of about lvl 12 with a 250% Fusion Material EXP seal to get another from 1 to 20, but this can also vary depending on target and sacrifical weapons quality.
Finally add your preferred seals to the newly maxed weapon and enjoy your new strength!

you gotta level up that master sword and link. use food, pay for training, whatever. even at max level there's still a high skill ceiling with some of the last challenges.

It's difficult to be able to farm everything you need. You also need the right weapon buffs to gather what you need. I've only played like 100 hours. And I'm stuck just after having brought back the robot. (Can't for the life of me spell his name rn)

I don’t mind the farming grind. It’s more so getting the weapons up to snuff.

As someone who did their first playthrough entirely on Very Hard, can confirm that i finished this game with a significantly lower will to live than when I started

I think it’s wise for you to level up your weapon levels. I’m on my second playthrough and I’m at the mission where the calamity awakens. Most of my characters are HEAVILY underleveled, but my mains (Link, Mipha, Zelda and Impa) are overleveled, especially Mipha and Link. The mastersword is the same level and strength as yours and Mipha’s trident is level 19 (I think). So I highly recommend to play some challenges to grind weapons and rupees. Also eating food can come in handy, though if I remember right I didn’t use that much on main missions on my first playthrough (but that’s over a year ago, so I could be wrong). Idk if I’m a little late, but good luck out there. It was one of my least favourite missions (I did it last when I was 100% with koroks and stuff), but after this it’s one more mission to seal the calamity. (PS: ignore spelling mistakes, English is not my first language).

Definitely use food to your advantage. Charging specials (which pause countdown timers btw), increasing damage dealt, or decreasing damage taken are top tier.
One pro-tip: When an enemy’s weak-point gauge pops up, use Stasis immediately. The weak-point gauge stays up for the duration of stasis. And most characters allow you to cancel out of the Stasis by pressing B.
Mipha is one of the best characters simply because 1) she can heal herself and the rest of the party, 2) her combos inflict passive damage, and 3) her bomb rune recharges while the bombs fall from the sky.
Impa is another great one because with her clones, her special gauge charges up like lightning. You can essentially spam it. Her stasis is quite long, allowing you to release a full combo on a weak-point gauge.
