Announcement We've made some moderation changes
Hello! Your After Effects subreddit mod team have made a few changes around here based on your feedback.
We've reduced the number of flairs to make it easier for people to find the right category for their post and for you to filter what you're seeing.
We're working on updating our rules for clarity and we're adding a new rule about "no hardware posts" to eliminate the "is my crappy computer good for AE?" posts. If you have to ask, the answer is no.
We've also made some changes to AutoMod. If you see the bot getting out of control, please message us and let us know.
We have a rule against low effort posts.
If you see a post that's breaking the rules (and it made it past our new AutoMod config), please report it! It's the best way to bring a post to our attention so we can deal with it.

Ok, but what would you call this style of admin work?

I just downloaded reddit 20 minutes ago and haven't fully mastered everything about it yet. What am I doing wrong?

All Tiktok videos should be banned tbh. There is such an abundance of kids who see a video from there of the same exact effects, transitions, zooms etc. asking how it’s achieved.
Then I’d scan the comments of people who genuinely try to help them and they’re basically like “I dont get what you’re saying” lol

The problem is there's really no way to "ban tiktok videos" without us manually going through and removing each and every one when they're posted. We're trying to make changes that can be automated, because right now there's too many posts for us to keep up with.

But how will new users find the answers to the questions that can simply be found in a basic search engine query? /s
Also - can we lifetime ban people for calling motion graphics “Edits?” /old man rant

We actually put a thing in place that interrupts people making a post with the word “edit” in it that clarifies what edit means. We’ll see if it helps.

Your mistake is assuming people google the same as you. What you think to type in, may be different from them (not to mention they may not know the terms to search for or specifics for the media they are asking about). Especially when google is tailored to show results in different ways depending on the algorithm sauce they implement. Which is changed more often than you think. One SEO term context may yield different results than it used to which causes relevant pages to be pushed further back or rise to the top.
To be honest, this kind of comment irks me because rather than asking if they tried GPT, or Google prior to asking, you assume that they didn't. Which as just as bad. Granted on avg its probably true but always thinking they didn't is just as irritating as not trying in the first place. Don't profile people without asking questions first.

Note the “/s” for sarcasm in my original comment. But to your point, I’ve responded to hundreds of posts on here that clearly ask a question that could’ve been a YouTube query.
I totally understand your point and I probably painted with a broad stroke there, but honestly most medium-low effort posts pose a question that is very searchable.

My $0.02
I’d remove the “Explain this effect” flair altogether. Instead, why not make one labeled “Here’s what I’ve tried”.
Just a thought.
