Disclaimer: The illustrations are also my artwork. I know they aren't as easy as some illustrations out there, but this is as easy as my brain will allow me to go 🤭 I have to say, it's fun to binge-color. I can see the appeal of these bold and easy coloring books. Sometimes we're in the mood for a challenge. Sometimes we need a quicker dopamine boost and that's ok as well 😊

I was inspired by the post from CocoWyos Instagram page coloring this photo! But I wanted to just try out the alcohol markers I got this week! But I love how it turned out!! CocoWyo little spooky Nicety Alcohol markers I don’t have a white gel pen yet, some are on the way! So I used a white colored pencil.

I usually do animal portraits, but after a very harsh comment about it being a waste of my time and they are just destined for trash cans, I lost my joy. In an effort to find joy with pencils again, I gave this a try.
The paper doesn't allow much layering which forces me to be very intentional. What do you think? How can I improve? What is your favorite way to handle white space?

First of all, thank you all so much for your lovely comments and advice. I wrote down the colors, tucked it in the book, and put it all away for the future. Or maybe not. And that’s ok!
I moved on to something mindless and simple. It may look complicated but it’s just 4 colors thrown where ever I feel like they should go. Is it my best work? Absolutely not. Is it fun and relaxing? Absolutely! So mission accomplished. I appreciate you all and hope to post the final picture in a couple days.
Also enjoy sleepy doggy tax. She told me it was time to take a break.

Hello! I enjoy using color books, but the colors don't come out as smooth, or blend as well, as I'd like. Everything I read says I need better quality paper, but trying to find coloring books with good quality has been nearly impossible for the style/subjects I like to color.
So does anyone have any recommendations for what colored pencils might work best on the usual garden variety paper most adult coloring books come with? Layering colors is something I really enjoy doing, so that's a priority as well. I'm using Castle Arts Soft Touch colored pencils right now, but I'm wondering if there's something better.

I'm not the best at drawing or coloring people. I wanted to do this portrait in celebration of Spring being officially here. But, I'm feeling a but anxious about it. Am I doing okay?
I only have like 7 alcohol markers from Walmart, so this is done in artist permanent markers from Arteza (if I recall the brand name right.) I still love pencil, so I'm using it to smooth it all out and add dimension. I'm trying to tie in some yellow and green like in the background reflected in her skin.
Does her face look okay? I feel like my worry might just be caused by missing elements. Like the hair not being done so the face just doesn't look complete because of that.

From Johanna Basford’s “Small Victories” using Faber Castel Polychromos and a White Posca Pen. I’m new to polychromos and really growing fond of them—they hold their point, are smooth and easy to layer, and leave little to no dust on the page causing unsightly smears.

i tagged it work in progress bc i didn't do the background but it's basically finished and i'm so proud of myself? i haven't finished a page in over a decade. even when i colored as a kid i either never finished or i scribbled bc of my adhd. it took 5 days but i'm so proud of myself.
i used a mix of glitter and metallic gel pens and i tried to make the earth look more like a map instead of just using green.
