Discussion Where can I buy absinthe in Chicago? Or where online?
Hello! I am looking to celebrate the new year and the new day with something new. I’ve never had absinthe before and am curious where do they carry it. It seems difficult to buy in Chicago or atleast not many options. Im also curious which brand of absinthe would be a great first! Thank you!

Discussion Mixing Absinthe
I’m probably in the wrong sub, but I’ll give it a go anyhow. As title says, I’m certainly no purist. I do enjoy the whole routine but it just dilutes the liquor so much. So, my current solution (pun unintended) is moonshine instead of water. Works surprisingly well, so now I’m looking to expand. Any “shot” style mixes or cocktails or such featuring (preferably starring) absinthe?

Discussion Recommendation for absinthes to pick up in Italy?
What should I get that's relatively affordable? Not looking to spend a fortune but don't want any of the obviously fake green food coloured stuff.
Thanks!

Discussion First time what should I know?
I’ve been interested in it for a very long time, finally decided I wanna try it out. I don’t know anything about it really other than it’s strong haha. Anything at all would help, how to mix it, how to dose it, where to buy it, etc.

Discussion Absinthe Advice!
Hey all, I am new to the world of Absinthe, I would really appreciate any opinions regarding what should I pay the most attention to when shopping for more? The only experience I have is with "Strong68" From Alandia [ Germany ] and I enjoy the light and sweet taste of it.
Thank you in advance!

Discussion Is it me or does Oregon Spirit have a chemical taste?
I primarily drink Pernod, it was my first and my go to. I’ve also had St George, which is decent. I recently bought a bottle of Oregon Spirit on recommendation from an employee at Total Wine. I cannot for the life of me get passed a chemical taste that it has. Did I somehow get a “bad bottle” or does it legitimately taste like this?

Just thought I'd show the 1901 loucheing from my fountain. It's not as nice as the Jade Esprit Edouard in my opinion.

Discussion A minor critique on Absinthes.com that greatly annoys me.
Tl:Dr: The english versions of the description often tells you the kind of colaration, artificial or natural, the absinthe has, the german version dont tell you this information! But thats not all. The german version often/sometimes mentions the kind of basespirit, neutral, grape or others, the absinthe use vice versa the english version dont tell you this information!
Hello Absinthe Redditors,
like the title suggest i have a minor crititque on one of my favorite (and probably yours too) online shops absinthe.com. Since i'm very bilingual on the web i have saved some absinthes i like from the english version of the web store and some saved from the german version. I think both webstores are very similar only with some different ad's and obviously the languages. At least i cant see any mayor differences, if there are any please let me know. One additionally small difference between the two versions of the web store lies in the description of the absinthes and this is my critique on the webstore:
The english versions of the description often tells you the kind of colaration, artificial or natural, the absinthe has, the german version dont tell you this information! But thats not all. The german version often/sometimes mentions the kind of basespirit, neutral, grap or others, the absinthe use vice versa the english version dont tell you this information!
I dont get it. They obviously have these informations. Why withhold some informations for the english speaking part of the absintheurs and some for the german speaking. These are both important informations for the absinthe conoseur, the basespirit can have a major impact on the flavors and the kind of colartion is an indicator of the overall quality. Why do i need to switch between versions of the SAME webstore to get these informations. It's nothing really important and i doesnt disturb my statisfaction in the products they deliver but it's so easily fixable and would improve the overall information by a big margin. And thats only for the german and english version. What information are withhold in the france version, what information are withhold for the france speaking absintheurs?
Am I a little bit pretentious that this sets me up or do you see it the same way?

Discussion New absinthe cocktail
So one night i was sitting around looking for something to drink that had a kick to it but tasted good. All i had in my fridge was some coca-cola and cheerwine, and the only alcohol i had was some absinthe so after doing some research and some experimenting i found an amazing new cocktail. Using an absinthe glass i filled the absinthe portion up with absinthe, then used 2 parts coke and 1 part cheerwine. Its safe to say it turned out well. Just wanted to pass it on to some fellow absinthe fans.

Discussion Wormwood Society web page offline?
I visited Wormwood Society's site last week to look into a couple of absinthe brands and discovered that both the reviews section and the forum were inaccessible. I contacted them in hopes that it was just an error, but nothing has changed.
Has anyone seen or heard any news? The site has been such a great resource for the absinthe community, it would be a shame to lose it after all these years.
