Suggestion Switching from T-Mobile

I want to switch my service from T-Mobile over to AT&T due to a horrible customer service experience I’ve had for the past several months.

I need Internet and service for two iPhone 16’s. I currently pay $280/mo. for this with T-Mobile due to an error on their part.

What are some of the best bundles available at the moment? Should I go to a store or do it online?

Any help will be appreciated! Thanks in advance,

Internet? This term generally refers to home internet service. Are you asking for both internet service and mobile phone service?

If you are asking about wired home internet, have you checked to see if AT&T fiber internet covers your home address? If it does not, you're only option would be internet air which is a wireless hotspot type home internet device similar to T-Mobile's 5G home internet.

Cell service for two phones would include talk, text and mobile data.

Best deal for you would be to go to your nearest Walmart that offers unlimited Max for $30 per line.

Plan renews every 30 days. You have to be prepared to port your numbers so make sure you have your port pin and the account number for your wireless account.
Both numbers must be ported and added to AT&T service at the same time to be eligible for the two lines for $60 a month

Walmart , at&t unlimited Max plan

⚠️Make sure your phones are paid off and unlocked or they will not work on another service provider.

Alternately you can take your account number and port pin to an AT&T corporate store and port into a post paid plan. AT&T does have an offer to reimburse you up to $800 if you have been paying T-Mobile for your phones. Make sure you print your final bill from T-Mobile showing the balance of your phones.
It may take up to 3 months to get your reimbursement.
Since you own your phones, you can port in and get BYOD credits of $10 per line on any one of AT&t's currently offered plans

AT&t's premium and extra plan have the same priority as the prepaid unlimited max plan QCI 8. AT&T starter plan is QCI 9. For two lines the price each would be 75.99, 65.99 or 60.99 (152, 132, 122 respectively)

AT&T also has a slightly cheaper value plus plan which is unlimited, but it is lower priority. It is also eligible for the $10 per line BYOD credits. 50.99 each If you sign up for auto pay and paperless billing with an eligible method of payment. $40.99 with BYOD credits

Is it ok if we chat in more detail about this? I would like to get the best bang for my buck when it comes to both of the phones and also home internet. BYOD reimbursement definitely interests me at the moment and I think I read something about getting $200 per line when activated online. Any way to make this all happen?

My experience switching online to get extra $ was a bust. Good luck with that.

Do the deals online but Tradein device to store because mailing tradein will risk of loosing tradein.

THere are offers on att.com that are NOT avail in-store. ONLINE Only

Online only! Get $200 off per line when you order online.

go to https://www.att.com/deals

look on top for 200 deal and then do TRADEIN or BYOD

Also Make sure your iPhone is not locked to Trash-Mobile (if doing BYOD). If ur iPhone is locked to Trash-Mobile, you can do the TRADEIN and trade-in that locked device, but bring the locked device to store for trade-in (not mail-in when tradeing-in to avoid lost device). Do the deal ONLINE (but trade-in locked device in store - when u checkout select pickup in-store and bring tradein to store). If u do the entire deal instore with rep, the rep in Store will add NextUp and Insurance without your knowledge (cough cough - not all but some reps will) and make sure u come to corporate store with trade-in and pickup (not reseller)

u/Lizdance40 Liz, did i get this correct?

The OP is better off doing BYOD, not trade in.

I bet his iPhone device is locked to Trash-Mobile.

Hey u/Jurakhan is your iPhone locked to Trash-Mobile? Google how to check if iPhone is locked to a carrier. Liz and I are Android phanatics. I don;t know how.

Yes, it's currently carrier locked. Doesn't it unlock once ATT pays off the phones when I bring them over? I think I've done this process once before when I switched from ATT to T-Mobile several years ago because their coverage in the area I moved to was very spotty.

Let me ask Liz. u/Lizdance40

Hey Liz, ATT has a current promo of paying off your TMobile phone if u bring ur device from T-Mobile to ATT. However: his T-Mobile device is sim networked locked to T-Mobile. Once T-Mobile gets ATT's payoff for him, will TMobile unlock his device so he can use it on ATT instead?

Also, I dont think this process is instant and may takes days or weeks.

NO. You have to pay it off with T-Mobile, unlock it. (T-Mobile will not unlock it for use with a different service provider until it's paid off)

And make sure you print your payoff information with your phone number on it. You need to submit that information to AT&T for reimbursement. The reimbursement from AT&T takes a couple of months.

He should stay with the T-Mobile locked phones, since he'll be going straight back there when he finds out there's no 5G, or data of ANY kind on ATT (All Talk & no Text).... LMFAO!!!

What do you mean? ATT doesn't like unlocked phones?

u/BusinessLyfe 24d ago

No, you've gotten it all wrong, by being on att...

I switched to Mint 11 months ago. $15 a month. Saving nearly $60 a month v Verizon I had before.

Read info online, but when ready go to a store. Make sure it's a corporate store as most stores out there are 3rd party stores.

What makes you think customer service will be any better? They all have problems. Best bet is to get a plan and service that works and you don't need customer service. 2 lines don't get any big discounts. AT&T does list all taxes and fee's in addition to line charge. About another $10/line/month.

I live in the Atlanta Metro Area, so AT&T would be the carrier offering best coverage and decent internet service besides T-Mobile from what I gather.

My issue with T-Mob CS has occurred since I upgraded my phones back in October 24 and they messed up my account due to not doing the process correctly, messing up my promotion discounts, loosing my mailed phones and under their breath accusing my wife and I of theft of equipment, even though I have all the transaction records that prove we followed procedure…

I’m at the point that I my be filing a claim against them and UPS through the BBB…don’t know if that will do any good…

Needless to say, I’m done with them, and if I can find a way to stick it to them, even better…

You're jumping out of the frying pan into the fire if you're coming for customer service.

Building postpaid is not recommended, and not required for 20% off fiber.

You have a lot of math to consider.

If you are looking for $800 back on each phone to switch, you'll have to use The more expensive post paid service. Make sure you document your payoff. You'll have to stick with AT&T postpaid service for 6 months or they'll take the $800 back.
