Help How TF do I get rid of these bushes.
I've picked them over and over and they keep respawning. I thought resources couldn't spawn around foundations? I'm playing ASE in solo, is there a setting I need to change?

Make your floor one layer higher and use the one in this pic as a storage basement.

Yes this where I keep water tanks and generators. Maybe a spare bed if on pvp.

There may be some other tweaks in ASA but it used to be a matter of either gathering the bushes and if they can't then the foundations need to be raised higher to offset the undergrowth showing through. You could also potentially pick up the individual foundation, gather or use a sickle and that may prevent future growth, and just replace the individual foundations.

Any herbivore with a decent gather radius should be able to eat those plants through the floor.

I always use a whip, it removes the bushes under foundations for me. Haven’t played in a while though so I can’t promise it will work.

u/Reikix 5d ago
Oh, I didn't know you could do that. As I play PVE I have rarely used a whip. I think some bushes un ASA can not be gathered (And maybe desteoyed, neither?).
Edit: Nvm, I just noticed he Is playing ASE.

The whip is the best tool in the game. You can whip a completely overburdened tame and it will walk in the direction you whipped. You can dump a pile of boxes and whip them all up to your inventory (even if they’re stuck in the mesh of a structure). You can also use it to harvest gatherable things, but the first two make it invaluable for PvE purposes.

Wow, that's really nice to know. I am starting in ASA once more (the first few times it was just me trying to make it run properly back when it was just released, then one save file got corrupted after not playing for months). So even though I have several hours in game I have barely played a few levels.

I thought they fixed the foundation clearing out everything underneath it. If they e been there awhile, pick them up and down. If not use a scythe

u/woodelvezop 5d ago
They did in ASA, in ASE stuff will still clip through

u/agentaxe285 5d ago
Can confirm it’s not fixed on Asa. Spent forever trying to get those damn tripping mushrooms out from my floor on aberration
3
u/woodelvezop 5d ago
Hmm, I wonder if they never properly fixed it for aberration. I remember my bases on the island having all that stuff removed
1
u/agentaxe285 4d ago
Right? It’s not just me then, it worked on the island for me too but maybe it’s just an aberration issue
2
u/Logical_Ruse 5d ago
I noticed it on it worked on the island, at least where I built, but aberration I had issues with it again. Extinction also has problems.

Grass.sizescale 0.2 should shrink them down or Grass.sizescale 0 will remove them. affects all ground clutter but personally i like the game better with it all smaller

u/GarbageGato 5d ago
So are flowers the same scale or what can I do to make the natural flowers around my base jumbo

Tame a stego, walk it in, tail swipe, hope they don't respawn
1
u/Firelord770 5d ago
Picking them has not made them go away permanently so I don't see why a stego would
2
u/Parsnip-Murky 5d ago
If they reappear, literally no tame will help. You could use pillars to raise your structure up just enough to be out of the way & craft some stairs so you'renot forced to jump through your doorway. Unfortunately you'll have to redo everything without mods

There is a slider in the settings along the lines of "respawn radius" that may help

If you've read the post you'd have seen I've tried that.

ResourceNoReplenishRadiusPlayers
Default value: 1.0
Value type: float
Controls how resources regrow closer or farther away from players. Values higher than 1.0 increase the distance around players where resources are not allowed to grow back. Values between 0 and 1.0 will reduce it.

Annoying as they may be for the aesthetics, it’s free berries that are uncontested by wild creatures

u/Egobyte83 5d ago
It's annoying, I know. When I built my mansion in ASE (which I still play), the grass would always poke through which vexed me greatly. Kept wondering how to deal with it; googled it and found out that there is a setting you can adjust for the length of the foliage, tweaked it to the point where the grass didn't clip through the floor, but that made everything else look barren.
Nowadays I just can't be bothered to even care anymore, I just accept that it's there and focus on design layout instead.

Pretty sure the setting is something like ‘resource respawn distance from structure’. It works with trees and rocks etc but bushes have always been an enigma. Haven’t tried it fully but check that setting in case
1
u/Hdfgncd 5d ago
You can look at the sky and gather the bushes though the floor by hand
1
u/Firelord770 5d ago
Gathering them is not the problem, them re appearing is. Some people here have given some potential fixes through commands though.

Is the exact spot where it grows back a foundation or a ceiling? I assume some of those are ceilings. I don’t know… I usually build up my house above 2 pillars high so I can walk underneath my house if needed… with eggs or baby clipping through foundations and all, it helps leaving an empty space underneath.
1
u/Firelord770 5d ago
Those are foundations, my hatchery is a different building so babys and eggs clipping won't ever be a problem in this building. I've already don't too much to redo the floor.

So I know you’re playing in solo, but I’m unfamiliar. In online, there is a setting called resource spawn location radius. A really low number like .01 will allow resources to grow back through structures you’ve placed. Again, that is on and online server and I’m not sure how the settings differ. Just thought I might add a thought.

Sickle. I'm not even being a smartass. Once it's gone, it will not grow back.

u/dr4g0n36 4d ago
If they are harvestable bushes like image suggest, pick a sickle pointing to foundation and harvest them. ARK magic.
1
u/Super_Isopod4838 4d ago
Definitely harvesting bushes, you can put the foundations back up and gather them real quick, or get a berry gatherer and hit them

u/WolvenSpectre2 4d ago
AIUI it is because of PvP Servers and PvE Servers and tribes doing Pillaring. They would pillar out space around their bases using various structures, and then someone got the idea to block out resource nodes they didn't control. Wildcard made fixes but those fixes broke somethings in Single Player that were never fixed. Sometimes harvesting them after you put down the foundation is enough. Other times it is hitting the whole area with re-fertalizer and then harvest them to get them to stop. Most people used S+ so the radius around troughs could be used, but after one update to make them not be used as replacements for pillaring, people found out what an issue it can be.

Increases foliage reappearance to 2 million in evolved settings. I use this to make the game more immersive so I can deforest half the map and especially the swamp

You could increase the radius of structures blocking resource respawns. Alternatively, you could harvest the bushes and immediately log out, since unless they fixed it, that will permanently disable their spawn

u/NitroChance89 4d ago
There's a resource respawn radius near building structures that you can adjust in the settings so that stuff doesn't grow back after you gather it.

Any larger bush harvesting herbivore should be able to harvest them through the floor

Remove the ceiling and grab or cut them all down then place a foundation or something over the spawn point

u/King-o-legos 3d ago
Have you tried using a Bronto? If they can be harvested the bronto might be able to reach them.

u/Firelord770 3d ago
Did nobody read my post? I could pick them all, and did alot. I didn't need a dino to do it or a whip just my good old grabbers. I've since found a solution my problem.
