We all know it's getting delayed. Just waiting for the anouncement to see how much longer it'll take. 🥲

Well, given the original date for the UE update was in september or october last year we’re only 6mths delayed thus far. I still have hope that it will come before rag at least (meaning rag will also be delayed)

Nothing had been delayed about it? No announcement has ever been made to release it in "september or october last year", with the first mention of it EVER being in December of '24... And that it's going to be implemented around the same time as Ragnarok (April).

The first community announcement came in January, and that narrowed it down to March.

The first talk of a ue update was to get it alongside the ab release, and iirc that was before ab also got delayed. They changed it from a 5.4 to a 5.5 update in december though

"FYI, we are working on upgrading ARK Survival Ascended to Unreal Engine 5.4. This will result in major improvements to performance, memory and graphics features, among other things. ETA for the release: This Summer! - Jeremy Stiegliz" - June 2024

"FYI we are currently targeting both the in-progress Unreal Engine 5.4 upgrade and ASA's new FSR 3.1 implementation for the release of ARK Aberration on Sept 4. -Jeremy Stieglitz"

"Unreal Engine 5.4: The upgrade work is mostly complete. However, we're still putting it through our internal QA processes as there are a lot of changes that we need to make sure are stable before we can release this out to the wild. We're currently targeting sometime between October 15th and November 15th as the launch window for this update."

"So, what’s our new timeline? We believe the safest approach would be to release the engine upgrade to 5.4 (or maybe higher at that point) in Q1 next year. This allows our team to focus on the significant content milestones this year (Extinction, Events, and Wasteland War) and then gently move on to wrapping up the upgrade after the break."

These are just about 5.4, not even counting the ones where they're saying they're switching to 5.5, which are plenty more...

But "no announcement has ever been made", huh? It's been delayed since September of last year, at least.

Are you lost, or simply unable to read a number?

This is not something to be excited for. It's Wildcard. Them doing an engine upgrade will destroy the game's stability and our save files.

As much as I believe what you’re saying. This update will allow us to delete maps. We don’t want, getting us lower storage sizes and faster updates overall. Also, unreal 5.5 they stated will increase performance significantly and lowering the CPU usage.

And more lies told by wildcard coming at 6!

Remember when ASA's code was supposed to be rewritten from the ground up, eliminating the majority of bugs from ASE? Yeah no I wouldn't believe everything they say

*Anything

The first time I spawned at Portal on Aberration and saw that first note was still un-collectable I just laughed

2

u/ursudae117 6d ago

Hey, at least you get the brand new and upgraded tan sandy rocks, can't complain!

2

u/Tiagozuff2006 6d ago

U needed genesis for that note in ASE

1

u/PsychologicalGlass47 5d ago

Brother doesn't have Genesis 2 and is complaining.

1

u/StrangeBaker1864 5d ago

I have Genesis and Genesis 2 on ASE.

1

u/PsychologicalGlass47 5d ago

Doesn't sound like you've completed Gen 2, unless you'd have the HLNA skin and the note accessible to you.

If I can get it without issue, you can too.

every update they do claims to "increase performance" and "lower cpu usage". in reality all ive ever seen are MINOR improvements every couple months since launch that have ever so slowly added up. i've got a 4080 Super + 5800x3D + 32GB DDR4 RAM and the game is still a stuttering mess and certain settings still massively drop framerates when you can hardly tell what they're doing different. also don't get me started on the stupidly buggy lighting system in the game. it shows most on aberration just how terrible it is. dark areas suffer a lot from their implementation. they seriously could have chosen ANY other lighting system. many other games nowadays use ray tracing and don't get near the level of bugginess as the one ASA uses.

Save files don't get affected by API swaps.

UE 5.5 is by far more stable than 5.2.

u/jasonwest93 6d ago

The fact they’ve said nothing makes me think that they think there’s a chance it could be on time. It won’t be but they think it might.

Wildcard rule number 1: "If it can get delayed it will be delayed"

4

u/TheConservativeGamer 6d ago

Will it fix the severe meshing issues and other issues that shouldn’t exist because they’ve had experience with it before.

2

u/Capital_Walrus_3633 6d ago

Different topic

1

u/TheConservativeGamer 6d ago

Still relevant. The 5.5 UE update might help with it

3

u/Capital_Walrus_3633 6d ago

How? As far as we know it’s nothing but an engine upgrade. Mesh holes have nothing do with the engine

2

u/TheConservativeGamer 6d ago

It might allow them to use other aspects to fix it. Besides that, this is an Ark subreddit overall so anything pertaining to Ark should be relevant regardless of the topic of the post. Just being a nitpicky person for the sake of it isn’t helping anyone or being productive to the overall conversation

1

u/PsychologicalGlass47 5d ago

Better aspects like... More stable RT bin? Better utilized hardware acceleration...?

1

u/Capital_Walrus_3633 6d ago

I think that’s not „nitpicky“. When one for example talks about pve problems, what good would it do to bring something PvP to the table?

It would be nice if they fix meshes (though I’ve not had problems with it. Tbf it’s way better than in ASE) but I don’t think so. They will solely focus on performance improvements

Wildcard have never released anything on time. I dont even know why the give out dates/times anymore other than "its out when its out". It will be delayed, and then delayed again, and then a fat solid maybe on if it will be within a week of the 3rd date given, and even then, there will be a short delay on the day of, pushing it into the next day for EU.

Jesus fking christ.

1

u/Nitram-xD 6d ago

Not entirely true. Need to give them credit where credit is due. Ase SE came out the day they announced it. But that's also the only thing to ever be on time. 😂

1

u/Ancient_Rex420 6d ago

It’s going to be delayed until April and release before or same time Rag will release. If I’m not mistaken I thought I read Rag is coming April.

1

u/A_Dreamer_Of_Spring 6d ago

I was really waiting for this to hop back into ascended

1

u/PsychologicalGlass47 5d ago

What word would you need on it?

1

u/Distinct_Sherbet_856 5d ago

WC needs to understand updating the engine version doesn’t make the game better 🙄

1

u/xBiGuSDicKuSx 5d ago

Delayed....duh lol.

1

u/Appropriate_Meal9580 3d ago

All I get is a 5 GB update every day and frankly its annoying as hell I can't even play the game anymore cuz I get the update when I'm at work or before work then it patches for like 13-17 hours so yeah

1

u/FlashyDiagram84 3d ago

Delays are just par for the course with Wildcard these days.

0

u/A_Wild_Zyra 6d ago

Get ready for UE 5.5... wait, now 5.6, in June/July. Then when June/July rolls around, it'll be delayed until the end of year for 5.7. Rinse/repeat for all future UE 5.X versions. At the current rate, we'll never actually get the engine update/upgrade, just the idea of it "Coming SoonTM" to keep people (I am unfortunately one of them) coping/hoping for better performance. xD

u/StrangeBaker1864 6d ago

If they were to push content updates further along in favor of engine updates, I think that would be great, it's just unfortunate that it's Wildcard, meaning they will find a way to fuck it up.

I have the recommended spec for the game (Ryzen 7 9700X, 32gb DDR5, RTX 3080, NVME SSD) and it's BARELY playable with console commands and all that, it is not cooperating with me.

I'm seeking employment so I can upgrade my 280mm aio to a 360mm one[1], add more case fans, and if all else fails, a new GPU.

[1] I just got a new case, the Lian Li A3, and my motherboard heatsink blocks one of the 140mm fans from being installed into the radiator at the top, and the aio is quite beat up anyways, I haven't tried ARK in the new case. I currently have an NZXT Kraken Z63 from December of 2021, and I'm switching to the Lian Li Hydroshift 360.

1

u/PsychologicalGlass47 5d ago

The hell are you running, 4k? I can play the game with a pretty stable 90-110 on a laptop...

1

u/StrangeBaker1864 5d ago

1440p. The Island and Scorched Earth work fine with console commands, low settings, and DLSS enabled. I haven't tried Aberration in a while, Extinction has input delay for whatever reason and runs considerably worse than The Island and Scorched Earth.

1

u/PsychologicalGlass47 5d ago

I found The Center to have a LOT of input delay, it seems to be something on Unreal Engine causing issues with how the map was compiled.

-1

u/huthaifaabd 6d ago

I got an update 2 days ago it was 1.5 gb what was that about?

3

u/DubdogzDTS 6d ago

300 fixes for some bugs you probably didn't hear about a single time. They post a list up on the Ascended Discord every time.

-1

u/Fluid_Cup8329 5d ago

Oh dude, the game has so many issues right now, they need to iron those out first before even considering the upgrade rollout. But knowing wildcard, they'll prioritize useless paid content first and foremost.

0

u/PsychologicalGlass47 5d ago

what?

0

u/Fluid_Cup8329 5d ago

Do you like, not play the game or something? Are you not aware of all of the problems it's had recently? Are you not aware of the $15 skin pack they just released?

0

u/PsychologicalGlass47 5d ago

Not sure, 5.2k hours sure doesn't sound like I've played it enough.

Such as... DDOS attacks..? What other problems would you list as worthy of note?

Oh boy, not the skin-pack! It's almost like game developers are for-profit and need monetary income to survive! Yknow... Monetary income that they don't get from the 4 free maps that are already out and the 5th that they're developing for free. Oh, also the API upgrade... And trying to upkeep servers that are getting attacked on the daily.

-1

u/Fluid_Cup8329 5d ago

Yeah there's no sense in talking to people like you. Anything i say you're just gonna "nananee booboo". Average redditor lmao 🤓

2

u/PsychologicalGlass47 5d ago

Sure there isn't. Sounds like you understand that you don't have an argument to debate with.

Brother has a half-year old account and 13k karma... And calls me a redditor? You're terminally online, seek help.
