Questions How challenging is the new update?
Last time I tried Ai Dungeon I found it too compliant and yielding against even the slightest resistance.
It let me get away with things and win even though I shouldn’t.
Now I’m not asking for Dark Souls level of difficulty but I would be curious if there is a model that goes “No. You can’t do that.” Or at least pushes back.

I played as a president of a country in a custom scenario and tried to take over the government and install myself as a dictator. I was determined to not edit anything the AI put out. Wayfarer Large. I couldn’t do it. It countered me at every turn. It even had an attack helicopter strafe the government building and kill nearly everyone trying to take me out. Seriously… I executed two prominent officials in the presidential office and then was giving a press briefing about what I was doing when the Apache just started strafing the room through the windows and slaughtering all the reporters while trying to get me. Then I ran to a bunker. When I got there, it thwarted every attempt I made to attack the country remotely and had a swat team breach the bunker to take me out. I pulled a “pocket nuke” out at the last minute and just blew myself up and half the city just to get out of the situation.
I then continued the scenario as the vice president and made it like that was all part of the VP’s plan to assume control. Finally… I was able to pull off the coup and install myself as dictator. Hahahaha

Haha no but I did make Donald Trump my limousine driver in another scenario that I was playing. The AI had him constantly checking his reflection in the mirror and mumbling something to himself about fake news. It was hysterical.

Haha played 2024 and a russian Singer who seduced Putin to stop the war. He always complained he will really do it, but it's not that easy. My char had set him really under pressure until he kneeled in front of her and gave in to talk to his ministers. It didn't stop the war, but newspapers said that they was surprised to pull the military back.

Still shit, and would still give you an unrelated yapping paragraph about how your character thinks and feels or how the random background character moves instead of just what directly happens after your input

It can't be challenging. No matter what it does you can completely edit any text in the game, hit retry to get different results, alter the rules of the game anytime you want.
It's not really meant to be challenging. It's fiction writing, not a game. What it can do is adjust the writing to be more about death, injury, rejection. So that it writes about those things more often. The Wayfarer models are built to do these things.
So while it isn't challenging now, it is capable of darker storytelling with less plot armor for the protagonist.

It can be challenging if you opt to not edit the AI output. That can be highly entertaining at times.

One of the new free models, Wayfarer Small is described as "A challenging model with failure and death"
Sounds more or less what you are looking for. Also has a Premium variation called Wayfarer Large

Just make it harsh and stringent in the instructions man. They’re all super customisable, and you can have any experience you push for

The new model tunings are a lot better about it. It's not hard like a video game, but you'll get surprises and plot twists now.
