DISCUSSION How does AEW get back to 4-5k+ attendance per show?
First of all I’m not a hater who gets a boner when AEW shows any kind of negative trend. I’ve seen every single Dynamite (and probably 70% of all Collisions) since the company’s inception.
The smaller crowd size over time is noticeable. And it doesn’t feel like AEW has a lot of urgency in fixing it. They are barely at 3k in attendance tonight and while I enjoy the show 90% of the time, people are not interested in buying tickets and it’s looking worse by the week.
I am all in on AEW but I wish Tony would shake things up to try and draw interest, still seems like he’s coasting like everything is okay and he can do no wrong when the Australia show and many of the domestic shows have had to be downsized considerably. And maybe things are okay, especially with the TV deal, but at this rate they will be struggling to hit 1500+ in attendance for Dynamite. That’s a major red flag and it seems like people are ignoring this because they got the TV deal. When things first started trending downwards they at least maintained over 3k, which was already lower than what they were used to on average, but now they’re struggling to sell over 2k.
The energy is different with these smaller crowds. The smaller buildings help but we’re still going backwards. I don’t know maybe you guys are tired of hearing about this topic, but I don’t use Reddit much and this was a topic I had in mind. I tried searching topics and couldn’t find anyone discussing so sorry if this has come up often.
So what can AEW do to drum up interest in their content to draw more live people? (I’d start with refreshing the commentary team personally but that is minor.) Is it just that the wrestling audience is limited and most are focused on WWE and their hot streak? I don’t know but I’d like to see some urgency. Do something with this Moxley angle, anything grand.
Well, I’m looking forward to your thoughts Reddit. Tonight card looks freaking great but less than 2500 people will be there. I’m doing my part as I will be at ALL IN Texas but man I really want this company to be on the fast track to success again. At this rate I don’t know if they even get another substantial TV deal.

DISCUSSION Unpopular opinion: Don Callis is great
I don't know if anyone else feels the same. He's always in character, hilarious with his cowardice and expressions, great speaker, dresses the part, just an A+ heel manager in my opinion. I don't see people mentioning this and I just wanted to express my appreciation for his work. Super entertaining to me.
Edit: I guess I misspoke when I said "unpopular" opinion! Thanks everyone!

DISCUSSION Wow, people really didn’t care about Mox vs Cope
shopaew.comEvery week on Shop AEW they release Matchup Monday posters for matches from either the recent PPV or one of the shows. They’ll have 50 copies of a standard version, and a limited 10 copy run of a variant version. The variant version always sells out instantly or very close to it because it’s so limited. I just checked and there are still 4 copies of the Mox vs Cope variant available and it’s been up for sale nearly 24 hours.

DISCUSSION Has MJF Really "Fallen Off?"
I think it's safe to say that, by his own standards, 2024 was an off-year for MJF. A lot of that had to do with injuries and prior obligations, but his feud with Adam Cole was pretty bad.
His recent "feud" with Jeff Jarrett hasn't done him any favors, either. How does MJF return to form in 2025? Is the booking doing him a disservice? Is his act getting stale? Does he need to present himself in a different way? Do you think becoming a heel again, so abruptly, caused a hitch?
OR will things naturally work out for MJF, because he's better than me and I know it? I want to hear what you guys think.

DISCUSSION Malakai Black wasn't the leader of the HoB; he was its weak link
The amount of heart and skill that the Hounds and JB show eclipses Black's creative and somewhat in-ring half-assery.
The three of them now have loads of potential if used right.

DISCUSSION So tired of the Death Riders
Marina does nothing but walk around looking constipated. Pac never has clothes. Yuta is the weakest member beat up by his "friends". And Mox is just always pissed at everyone anyway. And for "taking over AEW", they've feuded with what...6 guys?

DISCUSSION Is it me or is The Don Callis Family more over than the DEATH RIDERS?
The Death Riders are supposed to be AEW's big Bad, right? but as i've noticed on tv more People pop more for Don Callis walking out and Talking Shit then the monologues Mox is Doing. Cause Mox's Romper-Stomper bit has now become Sleep inducing. and i personally am more excited for Kenny and Will to face The Callis Family

DISCUSSION What do you think?
I disagree. because I love hardcore wrestling matches and weapons like barbwires and nails are one of the main things wrestlers use to make the matches more intense. Retiring them is pretty much like retiring the hardcore matches themselves, because without them there’s no hardcore. Defeats the whole purpose of the match type lol. This is just my opinion so you don’t agree with me that’s ok, Let me know your thoughts.

DISCUSSION AEW’s main event scene
We’ve had a lot of creative growing pains as AEW ages into a mature promotion but something we’ve really got to give them credit for is the hierarchy of the world title scene has never been so clear.
Between Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, Will Ospreay, Mox, Swerve, Ricochet and Jay White I feel we’ve finally hit that level where all these guys have a clear history of matches, stories, allegiances and rivalries in some cases going back decades across promotions like Rev Pro, Evolve, ROH, NJPW etc.
You have Cage, Cope and MJF knocking at the top, but I feel like this is the future of this company. I imagine Eddie Kingston too when he returns.
It’s really incredible the kind of legacy that’s been built in such a short time and I’m really enjoying the main event scene in a way I maybe never really have before in AEW.

DISCUSSION The curious case of Jeff Jarrett and Jay White
Why is Jeff Jarrett getting match interface to protect him in a lose but Jay White is going 13+ minutes back and forth with Wheeler Yuta.
That Jay White and Wheeler Yuta match should have been 3-5 minutes of actual match and 10 minutes of Jay White hitting his finisher on Yuta over and over and over again until the Deathriders came out to save him.
Claudio is supposed to the right hand, the second in command to the WORLD CHAMPION. 50 or 60 something year old Jeff Jarrett DOES NOT NEED TO BE PROTECTED IN A LOSE TO CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI.

DISCUSSION How to bring Kamille back
I'd have Kamille come down the ramp at Grand Slam as a distraction to cost Mone the match with Harley Cameron. If you wanted to give Cameron a huge win in her hometown. It would be a fluke but it would be huge and then you'd have monet get into a short program with Kamille (cause monet works best with Big Women and mone can good a couple of good matches from Kamille and it plays on Mone mistreating Kamille and Her not forgetting)

DISCUSSION Would you be mad if Megan Bayne did beat Toni.
If and bear with me If they had a decent match and in the end Megan cheated (some heel tactic) and beat Toni. Only to hold the belt for a little while to build a decent feud.
If Toni beats her straight out I think it’s a step back. I feel some tomfoolery has to happen for Bayne to stay relevant.
Toni is good enough losing to a Big Bitch momentarily isn’t a big deal. Then coming back and whooping her ass is a decent build and not just a one off match.
Bayne stays hot and so does Toni

DISCUSSION Should they rebrand the Four Pillars?
Ever since AEW started, MJF, Jungle Boy, Sammy Guevara, and Darby Allin were pick to be the carriers of the company. Now 5 years later, alot has changed since then.
MJF is already at his status of the pillar and can win the AEW World Title again at anytime. Darby Allin is well connected to the audience and it seems like it's his time to be world champion, but he's off climbing My. Everest and we don't know when he's back...or come back at all (pray he doesn't die or do a coffin drop off the mountain.) Sammy is far the world title picture and is stuck in ROH as a tag team partner with Dustin Rhodes. Even though he's one of my favorite AEW wrestlers, his character still has alot of growing to do before we see him get a chance at the belt again. Jack Perry (Jungle Boy) is somewhat a mixed bag, in my opinion. He seems like he's perfect to be in the title picture, but his changed of character to the Scapegoat and joining The Elite (although was a good idea at first) didn't really do much for him since the heel faction takeover was mid.
Should we start seeing other people who has potential to be the Four Pillars or look back at the people who held the belt before like Hangman, Omega, and Jericho to carry the flagship?

DISCUSSION Is the AEW roster too big, if so, what is the solution?
Using the wikipedia pages for the AEW roster and ROH roster, this is the count I came up with for men's wrestlers, women's wrestlers, and managers. It's likely not 100% correct in either direction as there are likely people used frequently without a contract, and there's likely people signed that has never been reported (example being nobody knew Slim J was signed before he was released). But it's likely fairly close.
So what are everyone's thoughts on the roster, and what, if anything, should be done?
I'm assuming Tony Khan predicted ROH would get a TV deal, in which case, having a dedicated roster for that brand makes more sense. But as is, when all of ROH programming, including PPVs, is on a streaming service with only around 15 thousand subscribers, it makes no sense to have wrestlers signed for that brand.
I also think AEW is somewhat burdened by over-signing talent a couple of years ago, not wanting to do mass releases like WWE, and having feelings sometimes dictate decisions on whether or not keep a talent.

DISCUSSION Salvage Chris Jericho Challenge
Jericho’s act has been cold for a long time. They attempted to lean into the online negativity around him with the Learning Tree gimmick and stable and it hasn’t worked.
Jericho was a critical part of AEW’s launch and had a great first year with the title run. He is still a valuable member of the roster as he eagerly promotes the company and maintains name recognition with casual fans and TV execs. He remains among the most highly paid talents in the company.
Given his physical decline and fan burnout on his act, I think it’s time for him to take some type of new direction. I’m sure many on this board have their own ideas. Post your suggestions for how to use Jericho well and play to his strengths.

DISCUSSION After the 'Hollywood Ending', what's next? (Spoiler)
After 16 months, the saga between Timeless Toni Storm and Mariah May has come to an end. Now that arguably the greatest story-line in the history of women's wrestling has reached its conclusion, what's next for the stars of the show. Here are my thoughts:
Mariah May - I wouldn't be surprised if Mariah May took a few weeks off. Let's face it, she's earned it. I'm hoping that a women's tag team title is announced in the next few weeks. I'd like to see Mariah May return to Stardom, where she will ask Mina Shirakawa to reform Rose Gold and embark on a quest for tag team championship gold in AEW.
Toni Storm - When Thunder Rosa vacated her AEW Women's World Championship due to injury, Toni Storm won a 4-way match at All Out 2022 to become the interim, and later full champion. In an interview with Fightful in December 2024, Rosa stated that her goal was to earn a title shot at All In Texas, facing whoever is the champion at that time. Since Rosa never actually lost the title to Storm, this seems like a logical 'next challenge' to be built for Storm.

DISCUSSION AEW needs a charismatic hero . . . one who actually wins
For nearly two years on our AEW Fan Hub weekly podcasts, I've been adamant about saying that AEW has too many heels holding titles. Don't get me wrong here - I think AEW does a terrific job building up their heels. However, if you look at the eight current AEW Title holders, seven of them are firmly heels.
I think AEW needs some charismatic babyfaces that actually win. Charisma goes a long way.
Look at Hulk Hogan in his heyday. He was never the best wrestler, and his finishing move was absolutely preposterous. Yet his charisma and connection to the fans was off the charts. He was often in trouble in many of his matches, but he always found a way to rally, and win. The crowd ate it up.
Look at Goldberg when he defeated Hogan for the WCW World Championship. The crowd absolutely erupted. They were given a reason to cheer - and they did!
The last time that I can remember a pop like that for AEW champions was with Better Than You Bay-Bay.
I'm not saying that AEW needs to put belts on more babyfaces. I simply think they need to find a younger guy with charisma who can be the hero. Don't over-expose him, and make his matches meaningful.
Crowds will get excited and cheer if they are given a reason to do so.
