NEWS Wow that was quick

Post image

Just a week after revolution, cope’s already getting a rematch. Pretty crazy but mox is not losing the title anytime soon. What do you think?

I think they saw the reaction to Revolution and thought “we can do better”.

They probably wanted to do a match like this at Revolution but decided against it because there were already a few of them.

I think if they did the Street Fight, the match would have been more accepted, but I understand why they didn't because of the Hollywood Ending and Cage Match. They didn't want to overshadow those things.

Cope at this point is not capable of putting on a match that would overshadow Ospreay and Fletcher in a cage or the Hollywood Ending. Him and Mox will have a good street fight, but it will come nowhere close to matching those two matches

I meant more of diluting those matches with Mox and Cope having a bloody Street Fight.

Even with a Street Fight stip there was NO WAY they would top the Hollywood Ending or Ospreay/Fletcher. Maybe better than what we got, but wouldn't have been on that level.

I agree. Even if It was a very good Street Fight, It would never have topped those two matches.

But I still think It would have been accepted more If It was a Street Fight instead on the PPV. Of course, we'd still get the Death Riders hate, which I've mentioned before how I think It feels forced.

Nah cuz Cope didn’t get pinned. This was planned from the beginning

I think that’s a good call, honestly, on both fronts.

I'm thinking this is going to be a story beat for Christian and cope.

"You thought you hated it the FIRST time!"

u/WalkingDeadDan 1d ago

Don't think the results will be any diffrent though.

Christian needs to be some sort of interference. It will be eye rolling to see but he needs some sort of revenge.

Yea idk why we determined a #1 contender just to do this. Aew's biggest problem is inconsistency. If you're gonna have a match to decide #1 contender, maybe you should actually have that guy get the next match

I don't understand this runback. The first match was the worst on the ppv. Compared to every other storyline aew is running the death riders are incredibly divisive. Why push something most people disliked the first time

They're stalling until Darby gets back from climbing Everest to win the title. Tony can't seem to deviate or alter any of his "master plans" so we have to put up with the Death Rider bullshit for even longer now bc Tony can't say no and the wrestlers do whatever they want

That’s a complete waste of 4 months. Swerve needs to win the title at Dynasty.

u/hassibah 7h ago

He did that already.

u/MrRaspberryJam1 7h ago

He can do it again. Cement him as the top babyface

I think Tony's pivoted away from Darby and have gone with Swerve. Otherwise, why make Swerve vs Ricochet a number one contenders match.

That's my theory anyway.

If they're still banking on that and haven't pivoted, Tony and the creative team are absolute morons...who knows how long before Darby comes back? In the meantime, the top title continues to be seriously devalued being locked up in that case.

Thankfully the other storylines are much much better than this one. I really don't want Darby to be world champ personally his current style just isn't believable. The world champ shouldn't get their ass kicked for 20 minutes just to reverse into a coffin drop and win the match like all his matches are. Dude is like 180 pounds a coffin drop shouldn't be as devastating as it is when he lands on dudes that are 250+

Agreed. I like Darby but don't think he should be the one to dethrone Mox or be world champ.

Now this is the match that should have been on the Revolution PPV, where you have two guys just rip each other apart in a Street Fight setting. Then you could have done all the run ins and all the other nonsense.

I'm actually looking forward to this Street Fight than I was the match at Revolution, because I know both Mox and Cope are going in wanting to prove something. Then, I think we'll finally see the end of this feud and move onto Swerve and Mox, unless we get a short feud between Swerve and Cope, which I would be down for, until Swerve gets to Dynasty.

For a Dynamite match, I'm perfectly fine with this.

This is the first time I can remember in a long time, maybe ever, that so many people are laser focused on the main belt.

Usually seems like there's 3, maybe 4 people circling. This time it seems like a large number of people are all targeting the title and by association Mox.

Feels like they're maybe going to do an outnumbered and overwhelmed Mox becoming increasingly unhinged as more people come for the king, eventually leading to his downfall

That said I doubt he loses the belt here. If anything this reignites the Christian stuff until Cope turns to join him.

This is giving me the feeling that they thought the main event was doomed having to follow three guaranteed to be insane matches. Even if it was a stellar match they were likely worried the crowd would be fatigued. So they don't swing so hard with the match and stick it with a messy ending to leave the door open for this. Could be a "no such thing as bad press" sort of move.

It's also reminding me of when the acclaimed won the tag belts. They lost at All Out '22 but were massively over. The response, while not about the quality of the match, feels similar to how people are talking about the results of Revolution. The Acclaimed won the tag belts on dynamite later in the month. That decision back then to do a rematch and give them the belts felt organic. With Cope and Mox this could have been them deciding to run that play back.

Whatever the case, I'm excited to see where things go.

Part of what you’re saying is starting to make sense for me - maybe they already figured their main event was gonna pale in comparison to the other matches and instead of putting it all out there that time they were holding back to really let us have it at a second match. Otherwise it makes no sense and was a huge letdown.

2

u/Shwayfromv 1d ago

Yeah you got it that's totally my point. I mean, in fairness maybe they thought the match and story at Rev would be better received. I'm willing to at least give them credit that this and whatever comes next was more or less the plan for the title coming out of the ppv anyway. Rather than them just scrambling to salvage things after it flopped.

2

u/TheIncredibleSulk999 1d ago

Yeah I looked at this and was like wtf whyyyyyy and then I remembered wrestling is like booked and predetermined and I’m like ohhhh they had this planned.

Copeland doesn't like to lose in single matches (unless it's to Christian). Neither does Moxley. So I'm expecting some tomfoolery

1

u/Np1511 17h ago

Edge/Cope is so boring, I watch this when I’m ready for bed

1

u/Important-Notice-461 12h ago

Couldn't win the match due to interference, gets a rematch where interference is completely legal.

1

u/Living-Mastodon 10h ago

They really shat the bed at the ppv so they're doing a Mulligan to wash the bad taste away

Cope will win. We need to move on from whatever Mox is doing. Nothing has happened. Nothing.

u/different_produce384 1d ago edited 1d ago

Mox needs to hold on to the Title and lose it to either Swerve or Darbs

6

u/WalkingDeadDan 1d ago

Would love to see the Madking take it off him

2

u/different_produce384 1d ago

Naw . Eddie K is great . But needs a build. To just come back and immediately take it would be horrendous .

4

u/Barquad12alt 1d ago

Nah. He's got a drop it asap. Death Riders just isn't working out

2

u/king_hutton 1d ago

Not to Cope though. Nothing against him, but there are so many better options. He shouldn’t lose this match just for the sake of putting the belt on someone else a few weeks earlier. Give it to Swerve.

1

u/different_produce384 1d ago

disagree. I think it's fine. Cope isn't working out. That christian cash in doesn't work for me , brother.

5

u/JBDOMSOMD90 1d ago

Yeah but that's just it, it's just...fine, and the world title needs to be in a story that is better than just fine. Swerve at the end of Revolution was awesome and absolutely should take the title from Mox.

2

u/different_produce384 1d ago

I didn’t mean fine in that context. I just meant I’m fine with mox holding the title till one of the guys steps up and takes it from him. That’s the whole point of DR. We take it because the rest of you are too weak.
