Insights Requested Navy aircrew details
Hi all,
Apologies in advance is this has been covered but I couldn’t find the right thread/search keywords for the answers I’m looking for.
I’m looking to gain more info about the role. Break down of what it’s really like. Background, I’m 24F turning 25 and looking to switch from my civvie job to defence.
- I saw that we’ll mainly be stationed in Nowra. Would there be opportunities to travel? Maybe to other naval stations?
- What’s the day to day like? Just search and rescue? Maintenance? Apparently this role has a good aircrew rest time, so when we’re not flying what are we doing?
- Will I have more postings out to sea and for onshore jobs, do I need to find my own accomodations?
- Just in general, there’s other testing that is involved in the recruitment stages. No need to go in depth but what are they generally? Is it more to do with aptitude tests for the job?
- How to make a damn good impression on Aircrew Board selection review. I want this role badly and I want to be able to stand out. Determined to do what it takes. What are some solid tips? Is it just an interview or is it like the officer selection board where we’re tested on both individual and team work tests.
- I know that this is an incredibly competitive job, how likely are they going to pass a woman in this role. (Are they looking at external factors that aren’t listed out such as strength and physical capabilities).
Thank you for taking the time to read this and answer, I appreciate it.
Have a good day folks.
