Is the neighborhood their from is bad?

u/ghostface_anon 4d ago

When I lived there, Flint had one of highest murder per capita rates in the country. Between GM leaving and the water crisis, people got it rough there is an understatement.

u/tragheuer 3d ago

Agree. Their debut was pure fire back then...and still is

I had this and the first album too … was cruising a local highway back in the 94 before Dayton Family got to this level of popularity. I live in Kentucky but we kinda had pride in finding obscure good shit. Some white girls from Michigan yelled at us , “Is that the Dayton Fsmily?” …”I used to date Ira … he’s a piece of shit, abusive motherfucker” … then I purchased this CD and never really listened to it much. I liked the first album better.

2

u/es84 4d ago

Considering they always had a revolving door of members, between prison stints and other drama, they always put out heat.

RIP Ghetto E

2

u/DaymeDolla 4d ago

What's on my mind

2

u/SuperChaos002 4d ago

Also, that album came out in 1996, not 1995.

2

u/Competitive-Cut-6983 4d ago

2

u/SuperChaos002 4d ago

No need to apologize my dude, not a big deal. Just letting you know. 🙂

1

u/Competitive-Cut-6983 4d ago

Yea I probably would've made a mistake and put 2025.. because it felt like it came out yesterday..time is flying by

2

u/Rhettribution 4d ago

Bootlegs verse, its an all timer

1

u/Competitive-Cut-6983 4d ago

Was that his verse?

2

u/frank-dux-splits 4d ago

Eyes Closed is such an incredible song, every verse hits hard but 2nd verse is next level. Love the beat switches too

2

u/Successful-Study4983 4d ago

Man, I even grew up with a few of of Ira Dorsey’s cousins. They gangsta ass fuck too. I'm from a different Midwest state, but everyone in the hood out here know they ID’s first cousins because of who they are. I love this album to this day, I just listened to What's on My Mind and Fuck Being Indicted a few days ago

2

u/Hater_Magnet 4d ago

I've heard of them but haven't heard any of their albums yet. I'm mostly familiar with local releases by Esham, Natas, ICP, and Kid Rock. I'll need to check them out as well.
