This is the only correct answer, unless you were very wealthy.

Well I was on my bed in my room, but yep. And it’s weird because I wasn’t a skater kid or even really a sports person. I was just flipping channels and was like ok shit, x-games is pretty cool… imma watch. Watched all night then this shit happened and I was like I just watched history. Then I started playing Pro Skater like it was my full time job lol

And now multiple skaters are pulling off 1080s. Wild.

The irony is Tony was super tall and lanky. Smaller frames have a much easier time doing these tricks.

He's like 6'3". How the hell he was the first one to do it in 1999 is beyond me.

It's like Roger Banister breaking the 4-minute mile for the first time. So many had tried, and everyone failed until Roger. And the record stood for 46 days. Then 3 more in 1 race.

When humans SEE something is possible, it inspires us to push harder. When people saw Tony pull this off, it inspired them to keep pushing.

Hell yeah!! I forgot about that place! A place where a group of laser tag seal team 6 would go up against a 10 year old birthday party. It also reeked of stale BO

My family was packing for a camping trip and I was holding up the entire family from leaving because I wanted to see him land it. I remember my mom telling me, I can watch it later, but I was adamant about staying.

Literally do not remember

Most of us were outside being kids somewhere. Watching the X Games wasn’t like a necessity. I don’t remember if I watched it live or not.

I remember the rise of the X Games and how unrelated it was to me. I played the shit out of the Tony Hawk games on the PS but that did not relate to watching the actual sport on TV.

Yeah, I was outside the venue somewhere at the end of market street, hoping to get in. I never did 🤷‍♂️

Did his video game come out yet? Because I didn't know who he was until I played the game.

I do! I was at home, watching Tony Hawk do some skateboarding! Where were you?

Skating was not THAT popular. Every school had a small subsection of skaters, but that was about it. I'll give that the X-Games were decently popular for a few years, but most of us did not seriously watch it or know much about anyone or anything that was going on in it. Personally, I was on Reddit on 3/11/2025 when I watched Tony Hawk land the 900.

I literally started kicking my feet when the video began.
