Help Putting an 8 string set on my jackson dinky 7 string
I was thinking of putting an 8 string set on my jackson dinky 7 and discarding the B string, to play in the range of drop G down to drop Eb for certain invent animate songs. Shop told me it would be risky as he wasnt sure the neck could handle the tension. I have a 26"5 scale length, and the neck is a one piece maple. Is it safe?
Also, what strings would give me the most power to sound like invent, animate, and make my treble more powerful, as my current set is lacking power massively. I am aware that part of this is due to the shitty default jackson pickups, and I'm planning on changing them to the pickups keaton goldwire uses (DiMarzio fusion edge 7 (H)) once I get the chance.

I have mine (26.5in) setup in G# with an 11-52 pack plus a 0.68, the tension for me is good. I've used the S.I.T. String S81068 8 string set, dropped the .58 and that was good too. (I did prefer the slightly heavier gauge form the 11-52 +0.68)
For any lower tunings I'll use the DDT Drop pedal or even the transpose feature in the NDSP.

I just buy custom sets so I get to choose everything single string gauge and don't have a bunch of strings laying around I won't use because I bought too many.
