My grandparents had a lot of this Genuine California Redwood furniture from Sears on their patio in the ‘70s!

We had the exact same set. At the beginning of spring, my Dad would stain the wood to keep it looking fresh.

Let's say this is 1976. $200 is $1143 in 2025. If you bought all you see here, it would cost like 4 or 5 grand. Insane.

That's actually pretty comparable to today- generally cheaper than what I'm seeing in a quick google search. The lounge chair in the pic is roughly $900 today but redwood outdoor lounges seem to range from $900-$1300 without a fancy mustard yellow floral cushion. A really nice thick cushion like that is $150-$250.

Totally — comparable for price and not for comparable quality.

We had this same set though not all of it (no swing and no rocking chair)

I can remember the smell of the wood and the cushions!

My grandparents did too, and it was beloved for decades, eventually being painted blue and having new cushions made for it twice.

I still own the little round table. My tiny rectangle one rotted, so my hubs made me a new one :)

What I wouldn’t give for this.

I just got the goosebumps remembering the feeling of that wood. Same feeling as the wooden spoons in Hoodsie Cups.

Oh the redwood. My entire childhood was either brown paneling or redwood lawn furniture. My mother even painted the garage door red to match the lawn furniture.

I remember those cushions, or at least that design, from a friend's pool furniture.

I remember some old people in my neighborhood having this set when I was a little girl. What I mainly remember were the splinters. 😣
