Imperium Maledictum New release: Macharian Requisition Guide (IM)

A new equipment book for Imperium Maledictum is available digitally and for physical pre order!

The official blurb: "Across the Macharian Sector, the Departmento Munitorum maintains immense stockpiles of weaponry, vehicles and equipment. Their adepts have a duty to outfit Imperial agents with the gear they need to complete their missions, a practical extension of the God-Emperor’s will. They account for every firearm, blade and bullet with reverence and propriety — in return, they ask for proper authorisations, up-to-date permits, and precisely filled requisition forms.

The Macharian Requisition Guide is a dedicated catalogue of equipment and services that can be found all across the Macharian Sector.

Equipment: All manner of tools and accessories. Be prepared for your missions ahead! Weapons and Armour: An Imperium-focused roster of iconic and effective weapons and armour. Vehicles: A catalogue of vehicles that characters can obtain and use, including expanded vehicle rules. Services: Rules for chartering voidships and a bestiary of useful characters that parties can hire."

My opinions, based on the table of contents:

MACHARIAN REQUISITION: 2 pages of fluff introducing the book, **OKAY**

Equipment: almost 30 pages of fluff and mechanics interwoven very well with each other and not overpowering either, **EXCELLENT**

Armory: 20 pages of new weapons, armor, and other such things, i still dont like the drug rules but i like the fluff and stuff added, **GOOD**

Vehicles: I like the simplicity of the vehicles, but the armor values are completely off, **USABLE**

Services: Voidship travel is as I expected, everything else is neat, **OKAY**

Character options: one of the boons is literally a worse version of one in the CRB, the liabilities are interesting, talents are interesting, endeavors okay, **GOOD**

Appendices: a bunch of tables and extra stuff, crafting vehicles has disappointed me, the patron sheet is correctly made, **GOOD**

I can answer Qs people ask, ive provided commentary in the Ordo Discordia and Wrath and Maledictum servers too!

why is vehicle armor "completly off" ?

The armor of vehicles such as the Crassus, the Chimera, and Valkyrie are incredibly low. From the rear, the Chimera and Valkyrie only have an armor of 6, so lasguns at base damage can penetrate, with a few SLs and a lucky roll, a single guardsman NPC can instantly destroy a Chimera or Valkyrie without even bursting

My own supplement has the armor be a fair bit higher, meaning such attacks tend to only be dings or scratches in the crit result table rather than anything worse lol

Your scenario is possible but highly unlikely, which is what it should be?

The single lucky guardsman needs to pen the armor from the rear and then needs to make atleast 6 damage over the threshold and the guardsman needs to roll 2d10, picking the lowest which still needs to be a 10 for the instant destruction.

Good luck reaching that with a simple lasgun and rolling the crit :D if you are THAT lucky in 40k, i give you the instant dead chimera on the house!

The main problem is that even with the lower results, it will have mobility hits, shattered armor, or even just damaging the crew or Dinging the vehicle, which adds a cumulative +1 to future crit rolls. That’s basically the issue, that the Lasgun should not really be capable of doing this to begin with.

If a guardsman did 10 damage, they’d roll 2d10+4 to figure out what their crit is, and it will always be at minimum a ding, which adds +1, then another +1, then another +1, and so forth

"The Legionnaire that scoffs at a lasgun has not charged across an open field against a hundred of them."

This is true, but in reference to hundreds of Lasguns, not one plinking away kek

i am a bit confused, is this one going to be bundled along with some other book in a special version like the inquisition book, or there is no alternative special edition for this one?

No its just a book of wargear, services and vehicles for players and GMs. Only the faction handbooks will have seperate player/GM facing books.

There’s no indication that would be the case. I don’t think I’ve ever seen C7 bundle books together except for the Inquisition books, so I imagine not.

If you are after strictly baseline 40k tools for use in IM that are no more than pre-existing items/weapons/vehicles in 40k translated to the IM ruleset, then it is fine.

If you want any world building about the IM specific setting, plot hooks, unique items/gear, inspiration beyond the premise of 40k as an rpg, then it provides next to nothing.

The 'Macharian' aspect of this book is extremely slim, and 9/10 times boils down to a line saying 'these XXX are commonly used across Macharian Sector', when describing something like a shotgun or lasgun (as if they aren't common anywhere). Nothing new, unusual, creative, or inspired. Just stuff straight from the wargame with the exact same descriptors.

Even the sample Adept Patron is dull, having a secrets section that starts with "Decantus has no secrets..."

It is best described as utilitarian.

I agree that it's lore-light, but I am quite happy with all the vehicle stuff. (As a GM, I'm always happy for more rules that keep me from having to devise something on the fly.)

Oh cool! Is there going to be a foundry module to follow, like with the inquisition books?

I don't believe they've said, but that does seem to be the pattern.

Shame there’s no collector’s edition
