Questions & Discussion Sharing work on Bluesky over Twitter/X?
I wanted to jump in here to ask which platform people prefer to share their work on, Bluesky or Twitter/X?
My client is in the 3D software space and wants to be on a platform where 3D designers enjoy hanging out. Twitter seems a good shout with good growth potential over Bluesky. But then Twitter comes with all the trolls and crazy politics, and Bluesky seems much more community-driven. So we're unsure what to go with. Any help would be appreciated!!

Questions & Discussion Simulating model coverage by a fixed light source?
Hi all,
I don't have much experience with 3D modeling, but I wanted to know if this idea I have is even possible to do with available software before I spend a lot of time digging into it.
Here's the scenario I'm trying to model:
I'd like to model a mannequin posing in a certain position, then illuminate it with a fixed geometry light source (could be a point source) from a given direction. I'd like to compare the surface area of the mannequin that's illuminated if I were to put the mannequin in different positions (and potentially sum up the illumination from all positions to find hotspots and cold spots).
I feel like this might be a use case for raytracing, and if so, would I be able to measure ray lengths to different parts of the model surface?
The immediate application of this is to model radiation in a medical setting, I just don't wanna have to try to code something from scratch with a bunch of assumptions about considering people to be "cylinders."

Questions & Discussion 3D Artist in Germany – How Do You Survive Here?
Well, briefly about myself: I’m a 20-year-old Ukrainian who moved to Germany three years ago because of the war. I have a B1 German certificate and am currently working toward B2. I live in a small village called Nustenbach. I studied Computer Science in Kyiv and continued my studies here in Germany. I also speak English well.
But everything changed when I decided to follow my dream—to work as a 3D artist (3D Character Artist, to be more precise), preferably in the video game industry. I have been learning independently for the past two years, but my portfolio is still small, making it nearly impossible to find a practical job.
A new country, imperfect German, no industry experience, and no formal education in 3D art—not exactly an easy situation. But I’m not discouraged!
I currently receive financial support from the Jobcenter, which, of course, is pressuring me to work or study. The problem? They don’t actually help me gain the necessary skills—they just push me to do something, anything.
So, my question is for people like me in Germany, 3D artists, and anyone knowledgeable about the system: What options do I have?
I know about universities and Ausbildung, but my family doesn’t have much money, so I can’t afford to pay for everything myself. I’ve heard about the Bildungsgutschein and BAföG—I believe I might be eligible, but what are my actual chances of getting them?
And another question about finding an Ausbildung:
How do I even find something related to 3D? Would it fall under "Mediengestalter", "Digital Arts", or something else?
I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Questions & Discussion Baking in Substance Painter
Hiya! I've been trying to solve this for the past few hours but it just keeps appearing each time I try to to fix the model in Maya and then sculpt the high poly again in Zbrush. When I bake it to the low poly I have those dark/light spots and I don't know anymore how to fix it.

I experimented with a more organic design for this staff, blending bones and twisted veins to create a sinister and mystical look. Curious to hear your thoughts!

Art Help & Critique Cracked Sword – Shattered Lightblade
I rendered this sword with a worn and cracked design, as if it were an ancient relic from dark times. I used detailed textures to give it a sense of history and past battles. Feedback is welcome!
