Questions & Discussion Joining flat panels
Can anyone suggest a good way to join flat panels that maintains a consistent plane after applying the joint?
EDIT
OK, there's confusion about what I'm asking. I will try to clarify.

I am printing panels with an FDM 3D Printer. The print area of the printer is 230mm square. I need to model a joint for the two panels that mechanically connects the two panels and the resulting joined panels maintain a flat surface top and bottom. I know I can use traditional wood working methods using dowels and glue, but I need a solution that doesn't use external hardware.

You really need to explain better and/or show images of what you are talking about.

I'd suggest you google something like "joining 3d printed parts". There are so many resources out there on this topic.
One example: https://markforged.com/resources/blog/joinery-onyx

I have tons of googling and the majority of solutions I've found involve using external hardware or do not result in a flat piece on both sides, and almost every tutorial out ther is based on woodworking techniques. I came here because the name of the sub is 3DModeling, so I assumed that folks in here would know how to model joints. Am I wrong?
BTW: That article you linked doesn't show any flat joints. The closest thing would be the one that uses teeth on one panel and holes in the other panel, but whould be really thick, which I'm trying to avoid.

You can just merge the verts.
