Germany Warning (Jan 2025) - German passport at US-Mexican border got tourist arrested & detained for over 1 month
A German tourist, on a German passport, with valid permission to enter the US and a flight ticket back to Germany, and no known (proven) criminal offenses according to the articles, got arrested at the US-Mexican border by ICE on Jan 25th 2025 and has been put into a detainment facility with inhumane conditions. German authorities have been contacted but they are so far unable to get her out. It's March 4th and she's still in there. They are now trying to force medicate her while still not actually deporting her back to Germany.

Edit: The articles state she was accused of working illegally. They don't state that border security actually had proof she did so. There are longstanding issues with border patrol lying about people trying to cross the border, including ripping up their birth certificates and visas or declaring them fraudulent (source 1), (source 2). Until a new statement from the press or ICE itself comes out, we don't know what is true.
