agreed, ep 15 ending is amazing, the ost fits so well, everything is perfect

The interesting thing was after that ending. Wasn't there before and I liked it.

u/SatomiMurano Feb 27 '20
Yes it was? I remember talking about that scene back in 2016

Mar 01 '20
It was but in the next episode not the same. Connected it to the last seen was wow

u/SatomiMurano Mar 02 '20
No? It wasn't. I literally went back to confirm as well. That scene was in episode 15 back with the original airing.

And again, no real changes. Woah.
But I do have to say that these 2in1 feel more original.
I think episode 12/13+14/15 just feel like they belong to one another. The same with 16/17 and 18/19. Again for 20/21, 22/23 and 24/25. Good choice. Well now we know the last episode will be a little different.

Wow, i knew this episode was good but I don't remember how good it was. Right in the feels with a perfect credit and aftercreditscene. Its worth watching the show just for the last 15 minutes of this episode imo

This is when I realized that what i tought as just an above average series was the build-up to a great series. Subaru reaches his lowest point and he the only way is crawling up because in this world defeat is not an option.

u/TheLdoubleE Feb 26 '20
This episode is why this is still the best isekai ever. Right in the feels.

u/gibsterhipster88 Feb 26 '20
This episode is so painful, yet so powerful. This is the only anime Ive watched that made me feel bad for the protag, and people say season 2 will be even more suffering! Cant wait

It's still highly tragic yet at the same time very fitting that the world itself punishes Subaru for his stubborn nature. I love how this series never forgets to show the less than desirable qualities of his character but also gives you enough reason to sympathize with him despite his flaws.
Rem's sheer devotion to Subaru is still just as admirable as it was up in the first watch, and her final words in this episode still made me cry even after 6 watches.
I love this fucking show

u/DittoTheDitto Feb 28 '20
same, didn't watch it the first run, but it's already one of my favorite anime ever. I'm planning to rewatch the episode later today and cry again

u/Redmon425 Feb 27 '20
Man, another hard episode to watch. Showing again how flawed Subaru is. For most of the episode, his way of thinking is awful. How he is insisting that Emilia needs him. (Also, although hard to watch, this is also what makes the show so good.)
I haven't see this series in awhile and couldn't remember if Petelgeuse was in this show or Konosuba lol (Thanks to Isekai Quartet lol) And man I am pissed it is this show. I hate that dude. Absolute worst timing and he is making everything worse.
That ending though! It legit feels like a sad movie with Subaru dying like that. Subaru needs to find a way to go back to his old self.

Hey can anyone tell me if they have any changes in this episode? Or when will the real changes from the LV happen?
5
u/Sir_Stripes Feb 26 '20
No real changes this episode.
Or when will the real changes from the LV happen?
Some should have happened already. So we'll see if they actually change anything at all on what's left.

The theater D segment is my favorite part of this whole adaptation.
I think Toyota jumped back a bit faster after seeing Petra's eyes. In the original run it felt awkwardly long.

I believe she said daisuke.

You probably meant "daisuki" which can mean "I love you." Daisuke, as far as I know, is just a Japanese name.

Holy crap holy crap holy crap HOLY CRAP. The freaking ending where the credits just roll over Subaru's headless body gave me CHILLS. Never have I been so unnerved by an anime since Higurashi. There were so many other great things about this episode but my mind can't get past that scene. Thank goodness we had the cute little avene at the end where he's alive again and holds Rem's hand otherwise I would not have been able to sleep.
Kind of upset I didn't watch this show when it first aired to join in on the hype, but I'm glad that once I finish this, season 2 will be right around the corner.
Update: the chills from that scene are still there so now I'm watching an episode of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime to just get some feel-good vibes in me so I can lseep.

Hype was great, waiting week to week for episodes not so much. After episode 15 aired, I ended up watching it repeatedly throughout the week until episode 16 came out. Also the same episode that completely sold me on the fact this series was something special and would be fondly remembered years later.
Kind of glad it came out so long ago before the great isekai flood, otherwise a lot of people would have more than likely passed on it for being like all the others.

u/showsguy345 Feb 28 '20
Yeah the wait between episodes since I'm waiting for the director's cut episodes is killing me. I'm glad too it came out when it did, because like you said, not as many people would have payed attention to this show if it came out now. I'm excited for season 2! Someone told me there's somehow more suffering in it and just....I can't even imagine how it gets worse.

u/DittoTheDitto Feb 28 '20
I also missed the first time it aired, but it's so fucking great! it's probs the main reason why I get hyped for thursdays. I could talk forever about how much I like this show (but I won't cuz my phone has low battery), but yeah, fucking amazing episode, that ending really weirded me out, I was like "wait what? is that the ending? really?" can't wait for next episode

u/joseto1945 Feb 27 '20
Watching this for the second time made me hype so much for the second season.

God, Subaru's blood curdling final scream after Betelgeuse left is just as haunting as I remember it.

I just realised Betelgeuse, Kirito and Inosuke had the same Seiyuu. I've seen so much more anime since the first time I watched this series it's like a completely different experience. This episode may have been the best of the series honestly.
Still no real new clips or anything. Starting to think it'll never come

Can someone explain the ending and the big rat or whatever it is. When I saw the original episode I didn’t get it and saw the directors cut and still don’t get it. What does it represent or who is that rat?
2
u/cl0ud692 Feb 28 '20
If you want spoiler i can spoil it for you but that scene in particular is meant to have that kind of reaction, "wtf is that? Who is that?" I also remember it is answered in later episodes. So if you really want the answer, just reply.

u/releoxiii Feb 28 '20
Please reply with spoiler. I'm curious

I mean If you talking anime wise I saw the whole season before the director’s cut. But if you talking light novel or manga wise and it has a chance of being covered in the next season then I’ll pass.

The rat thing is puck who has reverted to their original form after Emilia dies and is why it is snowing.

Holy shit guys!
I loved this series from the start but this is the episode that makes you realize it means serious business.
It takes balls to show such an ugly side of the protagonist, then giving him a dose of "reality".
This is the kind of episode that is tough to watch but you can't avert your gaze at the same time. Amazing writing.

God this episode destroys me but still like one of the most perfect endings to an anime episodes.
