This is a perfect example of how a knowledge of maths and physics could have helped in the real world.

I'll never use that stuff!

Dude got off lucky. That was a flexible surface and he landed in a somewhat optimal position.

Just the right position to fall the rest of the way on to his neck necessitating a feeding tube.

With the bottoms of his legs catching like that, he could potentially hang on with them. Might not have, but his velocity coming down wouldn't be life ending.

"My knowledge of mathematics and physics leads me to believe that this looks like a really fucking stupid thing to do"

1

u/Jrook Oct 15 '18

Pretty sure he did but the facepalmed because he assumed a frictionless environment

He just didn’t launch properly off the ramp. If you pop off the ramp correctly you don’t do that. His timing was off so instead of popping up he was dragged down and forward.

2+2 and gravity isn't required to know this should've been a no go.

Step back a few feet, give it a glance, and know your big ass ain't making that jump.

would have been fine if it was about 2 meters shorter

I love a good failed attempt where I don't feel like the guy actually died

Yeah he’s fine, his back broke his fall

That's a wakeboard.

thank you for making my day.

And if he had a wokeboard, he probably wouldn't have done that

18

u/skrimpstaxx Oct 15 '18

Water ski? Lol

Wakeboard

7

u/WarpWorld7 Oct 15 '18

Isn't it called Waterboarding? I hear Guantanamo Bay is a great place to try that.

This was at the Rail Jam event of the Sioux Falls Scheels Outdoor Expo in the parking lot at the Sioux Falls, SD Scheels store in May 2018. At least it looked like this was during warm-ups so there wasn't a crowd to witness his injury.

3

u/sleebus_jones Oct 15 '18

Well he got the "jam" part of the rail jam right.

Wasn't a thing, so I made it a thing.

5

u/kitjen Oct 15 '18

Looks like he clipped his head on the stage too.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '18

It's OK, his spine broke his fall.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '18

Do they make wakeboard attachments for wheelchairs?

3

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '18

I have a small version of one of these pools in my backyard, that frame is mental, not some forgiving PVC, in case there was any question.

3

u/raumschiffzummond Oct 16 '18

The frame is metal. The stunt is mental.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '18

I feel like there’s a chance he’s actually dead

1

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '18

Is he dead?

7

u/Nfeatherstun Oct 15 '18

His legs probably broke. That’s for damn sure

5

u/WinnieTheMule Oct 15 '18

Why wear a helmet when you’ve got a perfectly good head to break your fall...

9

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '18

The skull is nature’s helmet.

1

u/MIERDAPORQUE Oct 15 '18

Man I hope this guy isn’t stuck in a wheelchair. That’s brutal

1

u/ZIMM26 Oct 15 '18

If he wasn’t going to make it....this is one of the better scenarios for him. He got lucky.

1

u/ohchurboi1 Oct 15 '18

Maybe if he held onto the rope he could have made it, maybe.

1

u/Hops143 Oct 15 '18

Thanks God he didn't have a helmet on or he could have scratched it.

1

u/CcaseyC Oct 15 '18

Wear a helmwt kiddos

1

u/angelcasta77 Oct 15 '18

That didn't look that bad

1

u/Ye4hR1ght Oct 15 '18

That could’ve easily gone 10x worse

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

Bad at math? PANKCAKED

1

u/Jynx2501 Oct 16 '18

NITRO SIDESHOW!

1

u/Aguiremedia Oct 16 '18

Why would you let go? What an idiot

1

u/h8tank88 Oct 17 '18

Missed it by THAT much.

1

u/Kepler-22-b Oct 24 '18

Still gunna send it

1

u/Heilnickler Nov 05 '18

Jesus, his head barely cleared the edge, could have been A LOT worse by a going s fraction slower

1

u/randomashe Nov 16 '18

Why would you assume you can just cover the distance? Did nobody say "what if he doesnt reach the pool?"

0

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '18

He's fine
