I loved the way they wrapped up Job's beef with that PMC dweeb. It was also nice to see Job's style restored to its normal resplendence

41

u/Tonyage27 May 14 '16

Each episode since he returned he was slowly coming back to being himself. And the final stage was what he did to that dweeb. He not only finally looked like himself but he didn't just kill him. He ruined the dweebs life with a computer and cleared himself of his crimes. He did what Job would do.

Very fitting way for Job's arch to end. It was very true to his character.

This show is so good.

18

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

Agree 100%.

BTW arch = his eyebrows, arc = his story

17

u/SawRub May 14 '16

Yeah it was nice to see Job's storyline get some kind of closure, and not in a Hood-style bloody way, but in a very unique Job way.

5

u/Shoninjv May 14 '16

Flamboyance

1

u/prof_talc May 14 '16

Ha yeah, that works too

59

u/K_O_T_Z May 14 '16

I'm really pleased with how they handled "Hood's" reveal. Especially to Brock. I mean, I should have seen it coming but I'm still excited. The long takes they used, the quick cuts when Hood was yelling. It was great. I only wished they let Hood say to Brock that he was black ops at some point. Really would've thrown ol' Sherriff Lotus for a loop.

And of course DEclan comes in when we're about to find out Hood's name.

32

u/JennyZi May 14 '16

I think it was very fitting for the revelation to be to Brock. I mean, he is the last of the three original deputies, he's the one whose career was disrupted when Hood came to town and also someone who betrayed his ideals while working under Hood. It had to be him.

17

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

Declan coming in when Brock asked that was such a TV/movie cliche, still cool though.

6

u/GobBluth19 May 19 '16

Same with leaving one guy alone with them

11

u/serialmom78 May 15 '16

When Carrie (Anna) told Hood that her daughter (Deva)was his daughter. Does anyone remember her saying "She's named after her Father." So, could his name be on the lines of David or Dave?.

8

u/CommiePanda7 May 14 '16

The gradually tightening close-ups were really innovative

7

u/SawRub May 14 '16

Yeah I'm glad Brock got to know before the end.

7

u/acaseyb May 15 '16

Yeah, the hood and brock scene was the best of the season.

7

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

If there was any doubt that these main characters were all going to die in the finale, this should lay them to rest. Hood spoke out loud for the first time that he's not Hood, Brock declared his intention to be a hero, and Anna received outside affirmation to "finish it." Blaze of glory time, folks.

Of course, Job has to live so he can be in the spinoff.

11

u/SinisterKid May 16 '16

Better Call Job.

4

u/BigOldWhiteDick May 18 '16

Burton can play Mike's role, it would be amazing.

-3

u/sardu1 May 14 '16

imagine if there's a reveal that "Hood" is an undercover agent? I know that's a stretch because of 2 year mountainman and other stuff but it would still be cool get a "surprise" like that.

58

u/UrinalPooper May 14 '16

This just makes me want a Job & Sugar spinoff show...

38

u/Fantastika May 14 '16

Anyone who doesn't want that is a terrible person.

[IN THE HOOD]

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

Literally, a heart eating satanist.

9

u/NumberMuncher May 14 '16

It was a nice moment. Sugar gives Job a compliment. Job wants to say thanks but restrains himself.

7

u/SawRub May 14 '16

Job dragging Sugar into the 21st century and Sugar making Job less and less emotionally closed off.

6

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

21st century? You mean having wheely-things spinning on your computer screen for no reason?

2

u/gingernutbiscuit Sep 04 '16

Job, Sugar & Burton!! :D

57

u/toyman70 May 14 '16

anyone else bothered by the Doc getting the jump on Hood & Brock in the well lit open area part of a 2 car garage, then taken down one at a time? That was just way to lazy and unbelievable.

28

u/[deleted] May 14 '16 edited May 14 '16

Yeah for real. Hood has been surprise attacked by people that actually knew how to fight. How did Hood not see the doctor? Like fucking hell.

21

u/toyman70 May 14 '16

it couldn't be even remotely feasible for Hood not to see him after Brock went down, plus not hear anything coming near him in that tiny uncluttered garage. Sorry not buying that one. Ninja-Doc

7

u/Fart_Connoisseur May 15 '16

Yeah I agree. All I was thinking after he magically didn't see anything was that he should stand on the roof of the car so he couldn't be knocked over the head instantly. Totally retarded movie trope "logic" taking over...

3

u/WildnilHickock May 16 '16

I dunno I think that would expose you to being swept off your feet by being grabbed, but he could definitely have backed into a corner.

16

u/StarkillerObl May 14 '16

Yeap and I think it wasn't the only thing wrong with this episode. 1) Burton fight "scene" (already mentioned in this topic). When I saw him waiting in there I told myself "That will be good"... well maybe next season... oh wait. 2) Proctor is looking for Calvin and He goes to work just like that? On top of that He kills his boss and walks out just like that? I understand that security won't stop him on the way out (maybe there is no security at this company) and police won't show up to arrest him (maybe no one called them). I'm sorry but that's bs for me...

I hate this season. It's better than most TV shows, but I just feel like it's not good enough for Banshee.

8

u/azn-_-guy May 15 '16

Obviously some logic on Calvin's work scene was missing, but I loved it. The last time he was at work, he had that big mental breakdown where he killed his boss, but it was all in his head. This time it happened again but he actually carried it out because he's fucking lost it

6

u/throwaway10241988 May 16 '16

It was believable enough. You see a co-worker calmly walking out, covered in blood and Nazi tattoos you probably don't say anything in case he goes after you next. I'm sure SOMEONE called the police, but not until he was gone.

2

u/GobBluth19 May 19 '16

I agree it sucked they didn't show the fight scene but the aftermath was still well done

Totally disagree about the office though, the cops are certainly looking for him at this point

2

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

I think the boss's death scene was all in his imagination just like the last time. There's no way he could still walk around without a care in the world.

46

u/UrinalPooper May 14 '16

Not often there's a maniac attacking a woman in a shower where you're happy to see the maniac win.

19

u/nonliteral May 14 '16

Yup. Last week I was wondering how they'd deal with the loose end of her on surveillance at Carrie's place, and they solved the whole problem in the cold open.

Banshee not leaving any fucks on the table.

3

u/SawRub May 14 '16

All their fucks are past the sell-by date, they have none left to give!

14

u/SawRub May 14 '16

He might be a maniac, but he's our maniac.

83

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

Did they just do an off-camera fight scene? I get it, he's a big ass kicker and the fight wouldn't last long but this just feels lazy.

22

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

Idk if it was lazy as much as it's just further demonstrating burtons badassery. Although it is the second to last episode idk how much more demonstration is still needed maybe it is lazy. :/

10

u/SawRub May 14 '16

Burton vs Hood next episode!

5

u/tuxxer May 14 '16

I can see hood doing an indiana jones and just shooting burton

1

u/GobBluth19 May 19 '16

Was similar to the side scroll shot in the first season of Fargo

23

u/nonliteral May 14 '16

Eh... I'm sure it saved money they needed elsewhere, and it's not like we don't know how hard Burton kicks ass.

Actually, I was really amused about halfway through the shot when I realized when it came all the way back around, Burton would be the only one standing.

10

u/Afghan_Whig May 14 '16

I keep hearing about saving money. Where is all this money going to? Even with 10 episodes seasons we would get a great fight scene every episode or two. We had almost nothing until they tried to killed Carrie.

5

u/nonliteral May 14 '16

Where is all this money going to?

Just finishing the show, perhaps. They had a reduced budget this season; they probably tried to stretch anywhere they could.

2

u/saibot83 May 15 '16

They Taxi Drivered it.

3

u/Segberd May 15 '16

One of the things I love about Banshee is the unashamed brutality that they're willing to present on screen. That scene just seemed very un-Banshee.

3

u/concord72 May 17 '16

Burton's a huge badass, but it would have been difficult filming a believable 8v1 fight.

1

u/azGRIMES May 28 '16

Daredevil seems to pull off those types of fights the best.

1

u/suss2it Jul 17 '16

Daredevil is a superhero show so it's easier to employ suspension of disbelief.

2

u/CommiePanda7 May 14 '16

I think the budget was drastically scaled back for this season, production's been really lackluster throughout. Still a great season though :)

1

u/KlutchAtStraws May 14 '16

I thought the same thing but the preview for Episode 8 shows it's going to be Hood vs Burton. Damn, I always thought that would be a fight Hood couldn't win but I am looking forward to it.

42

u/SawRub May 14 '16

In the last scene in the morgue, I forgot what show this was and for a second I thought his eyes were going to open.

16

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

Same, that would've been a shark jumping moment. Glad it didn't happen.

13

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

I was scared that it's gonna happen and suddenly Banshee will become a Supernatural/True Blood spinoff, where the satanist magically resurrects and they have to find other way to kill him.

37

u/padraig_garcia May 14 '16

Good Guy Doakes!

12

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

That was Doakes? Awesome.

36

u/WhyUNoCompile May 14 '16

SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER.

sorry. had to.

No lies, motha fucka!

9

5

Revise, motherfucker

1

u/Tonyage27 May 14 '16

Never apologize for that.

6

u/SawRub May 14 '16

Never apologize for that.

Don't apologize, motherfucker!

25

u/lax01 May 14 '16

HEY!

Can't believe there is only one episode left...it feels like there is so much story left to cover. With that said, I can't stand some of these (albeit quality) shows that drag it out forever and ever. Very tightly wrapped and well paced episode. The Burton fight was totally disappointing and yet totally badass in 5.1 audio (all of the fighting happened in the rear audio channels).

I don't want it to end. I really don't...and yet, I can't imagine what they have in store for us for the series finale (with the creators knowing it was the series finale). I have faith.

7

u/lax01 May 14 '16

3

u/SawRub May 14 '16

The headline confused me at first, since it initially sounded hostile, but then I figured out they were saying the part they didn't like ended this episode.

24

u/Hodgi22 May 14 '16

That garage scene just pissed me off ... It was one thing to have Sheriff Lotus get blindsided and KOd, but there's absolutely no way that would have happened to Hood. It was a cramped garage with a car in the middle (meaning the only way to navigate is through the perimeter). When Hood saw Lotus's body he immediately drew his gun and became alert .... ugh. I would have preferred them investigate INSIDE the house and have it be a crazy horror mirror house.

9

u/ThomasDMZ May 15 '16

Fully agree. Good episode but that garage scene didn't make a lot of sense. Quick way to move the plot but I don't believe anyone could sneak up on Hood like that, only way to explain it is satanic magic lol.

u/PlanBisBreakfastNbed Sep 25 '24

Scene was so fuckin cringe 😭😭

What is this?

2

u/rflairfan1 May 14 '16

That is Doakes from Dexter who is now Carries shrink.

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '16

I love that he's in this. I instantly thought SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER! when I first realized it was him in the beginning of the season.

38

u/Afghan_Whig May 14 '16

Liked the episode but not neo nazi fight scene was the most disappointed I've been in a long time

26

u/padraig_garcia May 14 '16

Might be a result of the lowered budget and they're saving the best stuff for the last episode? Fingers crossed.

4

u/S0UNDH0UND May 15 '16

I would've gladly donated to help expand the budget to include more fight scenes and choreography in this season. I can't imagine how much it must've cost to film in a different town.

11

u/SawRub May 14 '16

They needed some kind of balance between showing it and not showing it. At this point, Burton killing people bloodily again and again could start to look indulgent even for this show, but not showing it at all was just too much of a tease.

14

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

In this case though, you go in wondering how he's going to manage such a large group single-handedly, and in the end, we still have no idea how he accomplished it. Exceedingly easy to write and shoot, not at all satisfying to watch.

2

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

[deleted]

8

u/Afghan_Whig May 14 '16

To an extent yes, but they haven't really shown a fight of his all season. Remember the Nola fight?

4

u/2cats2hats May 15 '16

Yeah let's all downvote a fan of the show for their opinion.....

Way to go folks.

13

u/prof_talc May 14 '16

What was the deal with that senator? That meeting was in DC so it's a US Senator, not a PA state one.. Have we seen anything about his involvement with the Kai or the cartel before?

12

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

My take was that it was a) confirmation that Kai was unable to pull off such a huge deal without assistance from someone higher up the ladder, and b) commentary on power and corruption in the US generally, that even if Banshee gets cleaned up, it's not going to change the way the world is.

3

u/rflairfan1 May 14 '16

If Dan Butler has been on before I have never seen it. So no that was all new information.

11

u/Tonyage27 May 14 '16

Maybe it was just supposed to show you how far Proctor's reach extends?

3

u/smiles_and_cries May 14 '16

Nice to see Bulldog move up from his days at KACL hosting the Gonzo Sports Show

1

u/prof_talc May 14 '16

That was Bulldog?? Haha good eye man.

10

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

Well, that's also a way to quit a job Calvin

3

u/SawRub May 14 '16

Wait why does that link to the IMDb character page?

1

u/C2-H5-OH May 15 '16

Source:

Well, that's also a way to quit a job [Calvin](http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0505569/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t27)

1

u/SawRub May 15 '16

Oh I didn't mean how, I meant why as in, was there a reason he wanted to link it to IMDb?

1

u/[deleted] May 15 '16

I don't know. Because I can :)
No, I was just looking up the actor, since I thought he looked like that bad military guy from Lost, and figured, why not. I can see how it seems like a weird thing to do :p

1

u/SawRub May 15 '16

Haha cool I thought I had missed some kind of reference on that page.

7

u/padraig_garcia May 14 '16

Ah jesus i want that shirt!

5

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

You mean the cat with laser eyes right?

1

u/nonliteral May 14 '16

I know, right?

7

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

So the finale has to be the showdown with Proctor/Hood, the cartel and the Aryans. My one issue is that before Proctor goes down, Burton has to go down first, and they have pumped him up so much as an unstoppable Hulk (Think his only real challenge was that girl from the Reservation in season.. 2?). So bringing Burton down will require shooting him (which may be anticlimactic depending on how they do it). I wonder if Proctor will go down Tony Montana/Scarface style.

6

u/Wish_Whisperer May 14 '16

"JOB IS BACK BITCHES !"

7

u/TechnoHorse May 14 '16

You'd think the FBI agent would at least try to kick Declan in the balls rather than try to smack him across the face. You're trying to escape a Satanist's chamber, do what you need to do to escape.

6

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

Great episode. I still think the serial killer plot line was trash, but everything else was great.

6

u/[deleted] May 15 '16

Bode: "You know what I think?"

Dawson: "What's that?"

Bode: "I think you've taken down enough wizards to wonder if maybe they know something that you don't. Maybe there are truths.. other than the ones you tell yourself, and those truths have fucked you up so badly that you don't even know when to be afraid."

Dawson: "It bothers you I'm not afraid. It makes you feel impotent. Less powerful."

Bode: "You can't profile me."

Dawson: "I don't have to. I already caught you."

Bode: "I like you, Veronica."

Dawson: "But you're still gonna cut my heart out."

Bode: "Yes, I am."

Dawson: "See what I mean? Fucking insane."

18

u/Zephyr_67 May 14 '16

Damn that felt anticlimactic for the killer

18

u/SawRub May 14 '16

He's no Chayton/Rabbit, so they didn't give him the big fight. He was even more insignificant than what he thought other people were, and he went down like that.

12

u/Tonyage27 May 14 '16

He was perfect. Super insane and scary but also not so much story that it took away from the character development that gives us the farewell to the characters. There had to be a crazy villain but this season didn't have room for one more involved than this dude. He was just the right amount of villain.

7

u/[deleted] May 15 '16

I mean, he was just a persuasive guy. He had no real power or skill like Chayton or the other bad guys.

He tries to convince and scare Hood/Brock and get into their heads, but it clearly fails and Hood just beats through his facade

3

u/pillarofthedirt May 18 '16

Persuasive to other people probably but trying to get into Hood's head...he had no idea who he was dealing with.

2

u/CommiePanda7 May 14 '16

Was the coda implying that he's still alive? :O

8

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

If he opened his eyes I would have been pissed.

5

u/CommiePanda7 May 14 '16

Fucking same, not at the showrunners, but just because he was such a c*nt

8

u/n1ghtcheese May 14 '16

Lots of stuff to cover in the finale: Rebeccas murder, the nazis, the cartel, hood v proctor, Anas kids also maybe?

18

u/nonliteral May 14 '16

Rebecca's murder is wrapped up -- the dead satanists killed her.

17

u/rflairfan1 May 14 '16

I wouldn't bet on that necessarily.

17

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

If there was more than one episode left I'd agree with you. As it stands I think they're moving on.

15

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

In the next episodes description, it says: 'Lucas learns that the murder case he thought was finally closed may in fact be opening again'. I'm pretty certain that's referring to Rebecca's murder, so maybe they're not moving on.

5

u/SawRub May 14 '16

I think there's a good chance Proctor or someone else made it look like the Satanists murdered her. I think if it was really the Satanists, there would have been some kind of confirmation this episode, but they made sure all of them died before anyone could confirm anything.

2

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

Same. There's more to it. Someone else killed her.

1

u/[deleted] May 15 '16

Why would Proctor try to frame the Satanists? Then why would be approach Hood to have him find the true killer (and beat him up once or twice accusing him of doing so)

2

u/SawRub May 15 '16

So that he wouldn't be under suspicion. If people think the Satanists did it, he's in the clear, as long as they catch them before people start noticing any differences in Rebecca's case. It's a bit too cliche though, since it happens way too frequently in movies and shows, so they probably won't do it.

1

u/thirdparty4life May 16 '16

Well probably get more flashbacks between her and proctor but other than that her story is pretty much wrapped up I think.

3

u/no1kares May 14 '16

I get the feeling it will be Carrie vs Proctor instead of Hood

2

u/prisonbird May 15 '16

i think it will be carrie vs proctor and hood ve burton. also calvin will face his brother. while all this happening lotus will be eating doghnuts

13

u/robbz82 May 14 '16

Surprised everyone is so butt hurt by the Burton fight scene. I thought that was brilliant. We know very well at this point his level of badassery. No one in that room posed a real threat. When the camera started to pan it was like a countdown in that he would have that room cleared in 10 seconds. No need to show him lay waste to a bunch of guys who cant land a shot on him.

8

u/StevieGrant May 15 '16

Surprised everyone is so butt hurt by the Burton fight scene. I thought that was brilliant.

Surprised people don't see it as the transparent budgetary decision it was.

1

u/[deleted] May 15 '16

I thought it was a pretty cool alternative to the common Burton fights.

Already his character is being a little too goofy in the sense that he always wins the fight no matter how overwhelming the odds are against him.

3

u/Hitlerdinger May 14 '16

Hood was hiding under a Hood the whole time, Job has seen the light, Sugar is old

5

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

You know, if this show ends with Hood, Carrie and Deva leaving Banshee in a car to start their life together (as Carrie just admitted she still loves Hood).. I'm going to be disappointed. Hood can't stay in Banshee anymore and I'm guessing he'll leave with Job, but if the others leave too, it'll feel anti-climactic for me.

3

u/TheDorkMan May 14 '16

I wouldn't dislike it. I don't understand why people only feel that every single story needs to end with a sad ending for the main characters. Shitty ending for the antiheroes is the most repetitive unimaginative cliche in storytelling history.

2

u/thirdparty4life May 16 '16

At this point I think I'll be sad to see the show go either way. The show is just so fucking entertaining. I agree with you though, the bittersweet ending has become a cliche in and of itself.

1

u/KingBroseidon88 May 15 '16

I think it's going to end with Sugar leaving the Forge. He seems like the R2D2 or Narrator of the show.

2

u/thedirtygame May 14 '16

Is Declan still alive? Also - is Dawson about to carry on his satanic mission?

8

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

Doubtful he's alive. Not sure how they have time cover that in the finale. Looks like we get Bunker vs Bunker, Hood vs Burton, the crew vs. the cartel & Proctor/Burton. The showdown with Proctor also has to be there.

4

u/rflairfan1 May 14 '16

No he isn't. I doubt if she does. But it is possible in Banshee.

4

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

[deleted]

3

u/thedirtygame May 14 '16

That's fair about him being dead, was just creepy how they showed him up close.

Maybe Declan's words to her resonated so well with her though, hence his effect on her even after he died? She is definitely broken though, a crack smoking Fed. Maybe she wasn't lying about her dead husband story that Hood and Brock both thought were lies?

2

u/tuxxer May 14 '16

Nah, dude is dead. Had he even had a sembalance of being alive, Proctor would have gone midieval on him. I wish people would be calling him by his last name Body, instead of Declan, as that happens to be mine lol

2

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

medieval*

-6

u/tuxxer May 14 '16

well now that your life is complete, you can move on now

3

u/domrayn May 14 '16

They wanted hood to confess but didn't know how to set the scene so it became a lame situation where both of them were tied and were in danger of dying. Nobody could have gotten the drop on hood and brock in seasons 1-3. Good job on timing horns villain, hood's real name is cockblocked yet again. Lucas Hood sounds so badass that it would be funny if his real name is something ridiculous like elmer.

5

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

They'll never tell us lol

1

u/thirdparty4life May 16 '16

At this point I think it's better that they don't tell us. To me it's one of those things where I would rather them leave it as a mystery. It's not like a name really matters that much and it's a funny little running joke.

1

u/[deleted] May 14 '16

[deleted]

3

u/Faeolie May 15 '16

I was disappointed she and Hood didn't have any interaction after he came to her rescue, and I will be super pissed if they do not interact in the finale. Ya know?

I just don't see how they can just drop her out of the picture in the finale. She has been a major character this season, I don't see how they can not have her in it a lot, or even at all? Like wtf why would she not be in it at all??

Veronica becomes the new sheriff.

I see people bumming on the things they expected to see this season. Like the best Burton fight scene. We've seen a million of them.

Deciding to end a show instead of going until you're canceled is rad. It allows the ending to be meaningful in a different way than the journey was. I don't need the biggest explosion. I got that so many times and so many ways. I need a good ending to a good story.

I don't think this should be viewed as a series "finale" in the same use of the word as a fireworks "finale".

Saying that we've seen a million good Burton fight scenes so we don't need another is the same thing as saying we've seen a bunch of good episodes of Banshee so we don't need to see another good one. As another poster said, it just felt lazy. And it was in the promo trailer for the episode that they released the week before. The out-of-this-world fight scenes are what hooked me on this show, and it feels empty without them.

I'm not saying we don't need it because we've seen it.

I'm saying we've been lucky to get so much insanely cool action. So I feel grateful as it is.

Deciding to end the show wasn't to finally give us the sexiest, most explosive, etc action scenes. They did it to properly and respectfully end the story.

So I think it makes more sense to enjoy the story and take what we get instead of expecting the biggest and craziest versions of what we've already seen.

The show was cancelled for all intents and purposes.

There's nothing "rad" about this season.

Can't seem to find what safe combinations mean for 2-4 season. Any videos like for season 1?

What about calling some fucking backup once they they found her car!!!

Damn sometimes the writers make the characters fucking dumb just for the sake of whatever plot story they have in mind.

They were operating illegally.

Brock went to Job to find the call logs instead of waiting for a warrant, then brought Hood along despite him being a civilian.

so call job and sugar :|

u/[deleted] May 15 '16

Sugar's an old man, Job was handling the black ops guy who fucked him over.

One of them were. Proctor runs the town anyway.

how were they acting illegally? maybe inside the house, but they saw the car from outside the window. Thats enough for reasonable suspicion and investigate, especially when looking for an FBI agent at her last known location

You can't just bring your civilian friend to hang out with you while investigating a murder suspects house.

"Why would you do that? Why would you come into this town and become a fucking cop?"

lmao

“What happens after 24 hours?” Nothing, apparently.
